Full flavored dark beer made with oatmeal and roasted grains. Very smooth.

Not sure why this is listed as retired, i just drank some. As far as i know you can only get this in their brewpub. Wiltses was doing this long before it was cool and they have had the blue ox stout for nearly as long. This beer is one of the finest representations of a stout i have ever had. unlike most of my reveiws i drank this from a glass so i can report it black and you can see light through it.
Strong roasted malts with enjoyable bitterness. VERY drinkable and a bit warm going down my guess is the ABV is a bit higher than most stouts. everything works well with off flavors. next time you find yourself in Oscoda Mi. you gotta try one of these!

Disclaimer: I cant smell but it hasnt curbed my ability to enjoy fine brews. it has only curbed my ability to tell you what it smells like
i ALWAYS drink from the bottle...i almost never know what the beer looks like...not even sure why thats important.
i dont know the difference between a growler and a snifter, and i dont think anything shaped like a tulip should have beer in it!

mouthfeel? that just sound offensive...:) is this a serious thing?

i am an irreverent beer snob!

Had on tap at Wiltse's in Oscoda, MI in early September.

Look- nice and dark, real big head that lingered for a good while.

Smell- not agro for a stout, but good

Taste, feel, overall- if there was ever a sessionable stout, this is it. Mind you, I prefer a bold Ten Fiddy type stout; but on a rainy, slightly chilly evening, this hit the spot!

Tap at the brewpub. Black with a small amount of brown around the edges. Thin layer of white, minimal lacing.

Aroma, roast malt, anise, dark chocolate and a little metallic. A bit on the subdued side.

Taste, very nice roast malt, earthiness and dark chocolate. Dry herbal coffee bitter finish.

Light side of medium and drinks as easy. Nearly creamy. I wouldn't say the alcohol is any higher than normal on this. But I do agree it should be un-retired as it is a year round brew.
