Rolled into town on Friday night for the first time, and venturing around looking for Saturday morning brunch we saw Pizza Lucé and stopped in. I've been to a couple locations in the Cities, but had no idea there was one in Duluth.

We were seated right by the stage where a very talented acoustic musician was playing (apparently Saturday and Sunday morning brunch features live music). Being 10:30 in the morning, I opted for a mimosa instead of a beer, although I did check out the selection in the bar -- lots of Midwestern/MN brews, including a couple offerings from Surly, some Superior stuff, Bell's, and similar.

Our waitress was a bit slow, but considering how busy the place was this is totally understandable. I ended up spending $9 on a breakfast burrito, which seemed a little high. However, this thing was massive and the absolute best breakfast burrito I've had in my life; this is a bold statement from a native Southern Californian.

Pizza Lucé is a place (obviously) known for their pizza, but if you ever find yourself in downtown Duluth on a weekend morning and looking for a delicious late breakfast with live music, a Bloody Mary bar, and an above-average beer selection, swing by and you will not regret it.

This place is clearly one of the better places to grab a beer in Duluth. I've never eaten there, but from what I hear their food is excellent, but I won't rate it here as I can't say so from my own experience. What I can say is that the selection is enticing.

The building is nice and open with a stage for music and plenty of seating. The bar is oddly enough in its own enclosed area, presumably to keep the minors from mingling with the booze. I stopped in this little bar with my sister for a pint and enjoyed the atmosphere. On tap were the following; Surly Furious, South Shore Red, Leinne's Honey Weiss, New Belgium's Fat Tire and 1554, Bell's Two Hearted and Oberon, Finnegan's Summit ESB, IPA, Sierra Nevada's EPA, Horizon Red Ale and Goose Island Honkers Ale. Not too shabby. I think any respectably beer nerd could find something enjoyable. If you can't they had Hardcore Cider, PBR, Guinness, Stella Artois, Molson, Miller Lite and New Castle too. There were 20 or so bottles of more macros for the lest adventurous.

Can't say too much about the service as we were the only one's there.

Overall, I think the selection is great, and from what I hear, the food is pretty good too. I'll update this as soon as I stop in for a pie.

oh man, Pizza Luce.

Hit this spot in Duluth and also in Minneapolis...late night eats with a bar emphasizing crafts.

The Duluth visit was quite the odd one - perhaps the 3.5 hours at Fitger's aided in our perception. As we walked into the bar, the first thing to notice was the massive red-light Liquor sign behind the bar...very cool. There were some apparent ladies of the night making a scene which also added to the enjoyment.

At some point, a gentleman played Ween - "Piss up a Rope" on the jukebox...another plus.

The tap selection was 12-14 deep with a focus on easy drinking crafts - Surly Furious and Bender were the highlights for us visitors. There were some Superior Brewing beers, a few Bell's, and some other craft offerings. All beers served in standard pints.

The pizza joint is actually separate from the bar, but they'll serve you whatever you want in either place. On the way out we grabbed some great jerk pork slices. The quality/creativity of the pizza was further confirmed at the MSP location.

Fitger's is the place to go, but if you need a break, change in atmosphere, or a late-night slice, give Pizza Luce a go. You may even be able to buy some companionship if you are there on the right night.

ah, Duluth - foggy setting on the Lady and the St. Louis, aromatic smoke in the streets, Fitger's, and Pizza Luce

The bar area is set apart from what appears to be an eclectic but innocent pizza joint by day, offering an interesting contrast to the gnarly bar just through the door, featuring a man-height "Liquor" neon and what very well may have been working girls enjoying themselves as a working girl should. Looks like they regularly schedule bands as well. No idea how this place normally sits, but it was an entertaining spot on this given night and a perfect finish to our one evening in town.

Went straight for the Surly Furious without giving it a second thought. Great stuff. Also Bender, some Superior beers, Bell's, and a few more - most pretty common for the region. Enough to make this worth a stop for a beer and a post-Fitger's slice.

Late night bar service - not really much to say here.

The jerk pork slices hit the spot on the walk back across the bridge.
