2013 batch.

A: Pours a very dark reddish-brown. Good sized and fizzy tan head. Head fizzes out fairly quickly with zero lacing. Good retention.

S: Big, boozy and sweet. Stinging fruity alcohol with huge caramel and molasses notes. Candied raisins too. A little toffee in there too.

T: Much like the aroma. Heavy sweet malts from the get-go. Stinging, sharp alcohol everywhere. Lots of caramel and raisin and prunes up front, fading into a hefty toffee backbone in the middle and finish. Heavy, heavy toffee notes once it warms. A light cocoa presence over everything, especially in the aftertaste.

M: Heavy, viscous, mouth-coatingly syrupy.

O: One hell of a heavy dopplebock (triplebock?). Drinks like slightly watered down syrup. Lots of sharp booze which actually cuts the thickness a bit. Quite harsh once it's fully warm, alcohol isn't even remotely hidden. Complex with lots of malt character. I enjoyed this but drinkability suffers from the thickness and extreme booziness. A nice unique brew to try once but nothing I'd get again. Still tasty, regardless.

Poured dark translucent red. Has a slight glow. Little to no head.

Smells sweet and bourbony. Kind of reminds me of BB4d. Marshmallow, caramel, and toffee. Not nearly as big as 4d. Not as complex either.

Sweet. Same flavors as smell with the addition of acidic dark fruits. A lot of acidity. Nothing is blowing me away, but there is some complexity here. It's drinkable and pretty unique. A bourbony and unpleasant aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is medium-light, medium-low carbonation. Smooth, but a little watery. Alcohol is very well hidden. A big bourbon flavor, but no bourbon heat.

Kind of what I expected. Not special, but was still nice to try once.

Appearance: a dark brown with some ruby highlights. almost opaque with some light coming through the edges. a finger or so of a tan head that leaves a lacing

Smell: whoa, super smooth and super sweet malts. caramel and dark sweet malts. good dark fruit character. everything dark and equally sweet

Taste: opens up with a mouthful of sweet malts, mostly caramel, dark fruits such as plum and raisin play in strongly. the back end has a touch of alcohol

Mouthfeel: incredible smoothness. good sipper, low carbonation

Overall: this is a killer big beer. drink it fast though cause it is more abrasive as it warms. Kuhnhenn's makes some great big beers

A very deep brown in color with a subtle bit of wad which quickly dissipated. Aroma of dark fruits, brown sugar, chocolate, molasses.

A very sweet molasses/brown sugar body with a nice barrel flavor up front, pecans, sweet milk chocolate, raisins. This tastes like it should be a quad honestly.

Medium to full body with a slight bit of carbonation but somehow drinks very easily. The abv is very well hidden behind the sweetness of the beer.

A very nice offering but with most of their beers, an expensive one to bother purchasing again.
