Thanks my firend for the chance to try this one. I was really impressed. The beer held great complexity and depth. Super bright and fresh flavors. Exactly what I look for in the style. Lots of citrus, pepper, sweet malts, spicy yeast and light candies. Crisp body. Really exceptional.

A bottle courtesy of the ever generous hoppymeal. Thanks Derek!

A: The pour is a cloudy golden orange color with a fluffy white head that is somewhat short lived.

S: The nose is incredibly spicy with tons of clove and a bit of white pepper. There's tons of wheat and a nice fruity bouquet of banana, pears, oranges, and apples. The malt and wheat provide a light sweetness and some toasty, bready notes.

T: The flavor was simply exceptional. The clove and pepper flavors are quite strong but still allow the yeast character to shine. The banana is stronger than the nose would indicate and the citrus takes a back seat. The pear and apple flavors give the beer a nice fruity sweetness and work well with the toasty base of the beer.

M: The body is quite full, especially for what I was expecting. The carbonation is creamy and smooth and the finish is slightly dry.

D: I'm not generally the biggest fan of wheat beers, but this was phenomenal. And the rather high ABV was nowhere near detectable. A great beer from Kuhnhenn!

12 ounce bottle poured into a chalice. This is a cloudy orange/copper color with minimal head. Smell is heavy on the cloves, with some bananas, peaches and oranges mixed in as well.

Taste again is heavy clove followed by some sweet banana, peaches and orange. This is put together really well and the alcohol is barely noticeable.. awesome drinkability. Mouthfeel is medium to light.

A- A cloudy, luminescent, orange liquid with a thin, creamy white head that lasts for a bit, but then settles to a splotchy covering.

S- Bananas, clove, white bread, and pepper. Aromatic and very appealing.

T- Sweet fruit- most notably bananas with a touch of citrus, clove, pepper and bread. The sweetness is kept in check and is rather enjoyable. There is a slight vegetable aspect to this beer, and I can honestly say that this is the first time that I have ever enjoyed said aspect in a beer.

M- Creamy smooth with a definite alcohol dryness at the end. The alcohol is not harsh, or even warming, by any means.

D- Very drinkable for the ABV. I thoroughly enjoyed this beer, and it is not typically a style I seek out.

Growler pour from DeCicco's in Ardsley, NY, pours hazed medium apricot amber, short lived off white 1/4 inch head, and then, a tiny bubble film and minor lacing. Ripe fruit, bananas, creamcicle, honey, light pepper and yeast in the nose. Tasty, zesty, citric, bold, complex weizenbock, more creamcicle notes, ample pepper, loads of ripe tropical fruit, lime, smooth finish. Love the style, love the Kuhnhenn brews, so you know this one was quite enjoyable. Nice to find this one available, and fresh on tap at my local.

Sampled on 2-14-10

Pours a very cloudy orange color, almost brown, with just the slightest hint of a white head and a few bubbles of lacing.

Smell is strong fermented fruit and alcohol, with notes of cloves and banana. Very enjoyable, with a yeasty hop edge at the very back.

Taste is just like the smell, lots of banana and wine-like fermented grape. You can pick out the booze, but it adds a very pleasant quality. Very good.

Mouthfeel is perfect, almost too thick, the flavors last forever.

Drinkability is also good, if you're a fan of the style. I am.

Overall, a great beer, and one that Kuhnhenn should make widely available.

12oz bottle from hoppymeal poured into a tulip.

Pours an extremely murky orangish brown with a small creamy white head that hardly recedes at all and leaves patchy lacing on the sides.

The aroma is very sweet with tons of bananas and bubble gum from the wheat. There is a light spiciness as well, white pepper and cloves, and maybe some orange peel.

The taste has the same sugary fruit sweetness with bananas playing a major role. The spiciness seems to be more prevalent with a noticeable clove presence, especially in the finish. The oranges and other sweet fruits add to the sweetness.

The mouthfeel is thick and creamy with an appropriately high carbonation.

This is an extremely well-crafted imperial wit that's serirously drinkable for the ABV. It's definitely sweet with lots of fruit but the spiciness balances it well. As I've said before, the Kuhnhenn bottles I've had that weren't infected are generally outstanding.

Had this on tap at the brewery. Its a very light straw colored brew, a little cloudy. Bright white head stays with this all the way down. Aroma of wheat and citrus is easy to pick up. Tastes also of wheat and grapefruit. Mild bodied. Slightly carbonated and refreshing. Very tasty beer and extremely easy to drink.
