Very happy to find this on tap at the Piglet.
A: Pours a dark brown/ruby red color. A two finger beige head forms, and sticks around for a minute. Rings of lace is left behind.
S: Up front and center is tart cherries. A complex nose of tartness, toasted malts, and dark fruits. Chocolate, baked bread. Very nice.
T: Follows the nose with tart cherries, earthy yeast. Light toasted malts and bready flavors. Chocolate covered cherries. Dark fruits, malts, and yeast are very well integrated here.
M/D: This has a medium body. Crisp carbonation, but smooth at the same time. The alcohol shows a bit as this warms. Other than that, a nice sipper.
Lots going here, and there are plenty of examples of this kind of offering that miss the mark. I think this is a great example of a mix of malty Old Ale, and Brett/slightly tart yeast. Very well integrated, and recommended. While I enjoy this very much, it is still not their best. Anyway, a perfect example of why Blind Pig is the best in Chambana.
