Beer and BBQ; can two things ever go together better? Naw... The Black Hog in Frederick can be found several blocks south of Brewers Alley and nearby the Carroll Creek Park, which can best be described as Frederick's version of Riverwalk (San Antonio).

Situated in a quaint brick building, the venue is a popular foodery with a single rustic room, a-buzzing with families and babies, that provides hungry folks with some excellent barbecue (samples and/or platters). And it is damn good cue. The pig must be respected in this regard.

Beyond the crowded booths and table and to the left of the To-Go Counter, in a corner adjacent to the restrooms is a small bar (10 stools) with a generic selection of drafts, bottles and cans. There were a few locals - I settled for an Oskar Blues Dale Pale Ale. Not bad beer-wise, but food is the king here.

They have limited hours and are closed Sundays. Check out the Pig and you'll be squealing with joy ... as opposed to like Ned Beatty.
