Bottle purchased from Atwater Market. If english pale ale was intended to describe a faintly hopped mostly malty ale, then this beer meets that style. Slightly above average mouthfeel. Decent drinkability, but somewhat disapointing to discovering the hop.

Bottle: Poured a light amber color ale with a nice foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of astringent hops with dry caramel notes. Taste is also dominated by stringent and dry hops which somehow reassemble's notes of cats pee (and somehow this is enjoyable) with a subtle dry caramel malt. Not as floral as expected but still very enjoyable.

Dark copper color and completely clear. Hard to believe that there was only a single malt here, given the darker color. No pale malt base? I find this to be pretty impressive. Moderate starting head which leaves some initial streaky lace.

Leans to the malt side--lightly caramelized. A touch of molasses. Little hop.

More balanced on the tongue. The malt is like the smell, but hop provides a touch of white pepper bitterness. Notable alcohol warmth in the background. Very rich with a correspondingly low carbonation level. Comes across as a run-of-the-mill amber ale.

341ml bottle poured into a pint glass

Appearance - the beer pours a clear amber red colour with a massive foamy off white head. There appears to be a lot of carbonation rising to the top of the glass. There is a great amount of web like lacing on the glass, and the head sticks around for a while.

Smell - The beer has a hop aroma at first, but not overpowering. Also some orange zest notes and some toasted malts. There is a grassy scent and it smells really fresh and crisp.

Taste & Mouth - The beer has a fair amount of carbonation, but I would still say it's below average. The hops it first followed by a sweet cantaloupe like flavour. The malts kick in and then the hops reappear for the slightly bitter finish. The beer has a nice balance of flavour, but it is a tad watery.

Drink - An above average beer that I would drink again.. However I would prefer if it was a little more full bodied and less on the watery side.

Bottle from Broue HaHa into a snifter.

A - Hard pour produces a few floating islands of bubbles but nothing more. Essentially no head. Orangey/reddish in colour. Medium carbonation. Hazy.

S - Breadiness combined with some smoke and nice hops that are very mild.

T - Smoke again. Malts are bready. Mild hop in the finish.

M - Carbonation is evident. Smooth. Not alot of bitterness. Lightish body.

D - Medium. Flavours are too mild to keep me interested half way through this one let alone another. It's a good beer but

Enjoyed with my supper which was garlic bread and homemade mac & cheese.

Poured from a 341ml. bottle.

Appearance: Easily 3 fingers maybe even 4. Sides are covered with lacing and the head is all pockmarked. Body is a orange veering towards amber.

Smell: Dry, some orange maybe with a bit of sugary flavor.

Taste: Brown sugar and hops bitterness. As it warms, it takes on a sharp spice-like flavor that is a bit much. Would have liked more citrus or other fruits in the flavor.

Mouthfeel: Carbonation is average to low with a clean finish. The body kind of falls apart as it warms. Becomes weak and muddled.

Drinkability: More or less. Not particularly inclined to seek it out again though if i do, i'll drink it cold.

Overall: I feel like i'm a little harsh. I started out liking it because it was good when chilled but not as good when warming to room temperature. Though not offensive by any stretch of the imagination, it was not memorable.

Purchased as part of a 6 pack with the 3 different pale ales/ipa's from Simple Malt. Pours a hazy golden amber colour with huge white head and nice rings of lacing down the glass. Smells is huge floral and earthiness to it from the hops, with some mild caramel malt. Bitterness is ramped up more than most English Pale Ales, so this may not be true to the style, but it is delicious so I'm not too upset about that. Very smooth carbonation. I almost wish I didn't split this pack with a friend and I had a 2nd one of these.

341ml bottle poured into a tasting glass.

Pours a nice amber/brown with almost no head at all. Nose is malty and crisp - a bit bitter and nice.

Taste is a good balance if hoppy and caramel malts. Very well balanced. The goldings are well matched with this dark amber malt flavor. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy - overall quite well done.

Poured into a half tulip.

A: Pours a nice copper colour, clear with not much action going on inside, nice head and decent retention.

S: Light hop smell, bit sweet/fruit on the nose and some maltiness.

T: Starts off with medium sweet malt flavours, followed by hops and carrying that through to the end with some bitterness. Pretty representative of the style, though with a bit more hops..

M: Very Light carbonation, though hits your tongue quite a bit, nice well balanced body though.

O: Overall a decent pale ale, not too boring but at the same time doesn't stand out greatly. Not the best offering from the Simple Malt line, but if Pale Ale is your thing, this beer is quite drinkable though the bitterness might get a bit harsh after a few.

The color is copper, and it is clear. Nice head that sticks well to the glass. The aroma is typical Golding hops. Earthy and piney. On the taste it is piney with a very dry finish. Again the Golding hops is showcasing here. Not over extraordinary but an ok beer. Well balanced and easy to drink.

This beer's appearance was of a medium amber color with a light head and carbonation. There are light hops on the aroma, which is inviting but subtle.

The flavor is of nicely done hops - spicy and well balanced against a medium malt body.

Overall, this is a refreshing, well made beer. I would buy it again and be happy to have it frequent my refrigerator.

Not a big fan of their Cascade. Hope I like this one better.

A- Very pretty amber/copper. Good retention of this thick beige head. Big curains of lacing

S- Metallic chocolate milk. Thats's pretty much all I'm getting. Black licorice as it warms. Wild berries come out later as well.

T- A little fruity. Something like strawberry with very little sweetness. Ends with a pleasant woodiness. I think I'm picking out Brasseurs Illimités yeast. Some alcohol when aerating.

M- Pretty full but still manages to feel airy and light. Dry finish.

D- Quite good. Clean drinking. Interesting enough tokeep drinking.

Good beer. I'd buy it to give someone to try but I don't think I'd buy it for myself again.

A: Perfectly translucent amber color with off white creamy head. Good retention and very good lacing.

S: Biscuit malts are very strong in this. There is a good level of tart and caramel malts. Good maple syrup like smell, brown sugar and light vanilla. Very light hop aroma: floral mostly with a bit of pine. Smell is good but very light.

T: Well, biscuit malts are still the main characteristics, as well as the tartness and the caramel malts. Some toasted bread taste is there while it wasn't in the smell. Lots of sweetness in this one: maple syrup, brown sugar and vanilla are still very much present. The hop level is still low with some very dry floral tastes and pine. The hops and sweetness blend in and create what a previous reviewer said a very cantaloup like taste.

M: Medium to light body, with a medium to high carbonation level. Does the job just right.

D: Balanced, refreshing and easy to drink brew.

Could be easily be misjudged as an ESB.

From a brown 341ml bottle. 2,29$ at Peluso. Dark golden orane beer. Off-white head, good head retention. Fruity on the nose, some swettness are also noticiable with caramel. Round in mouth, some bitterness. Good malt. Classic pale ale, very drinkable.
