I liked it. Caddy-cornered from Apex, you'd be extremely remiss to NOT stop in here (like watching a twenty dollar bill blow past you without even an effort spent to bend and snatch it). On my visit, there was a badass young trio of musicians bashing out some funky jazzy instrumentals, so the vibe was rocking. That said, not a place I'd wanna spend the entire night at. Service seemed nondescript, though the bottle selection was very satisfactory. What you do: spend your time at Apex, then drop by here to find a couple of nice bottles to take home.

Good bottle selection. Good prices. Staff member was helpful. Good location. Brought home a few bottles that I can't get in Chicago.

Did not have exactly what I was looking for but got me some awesome local stuff.
Lots of floor to ceiling coolers. Easy to browse with a lot of cold, ready to drink brews.

This place is across the street from Apex bar so we couldn't let it go. I think this was the fourth or fifth bar/beer store we visited in one day. Fun!

BeerMongers is kind of like Belmont, without the attitude. "No-nonsense", they say. Indeed. Friendlier folks, lower prices, a more convivial atmosphere. Eight taps at the bar, including Unibroue, Espresso Yeti, Carlton Bourbon Cider, Pelican Sea Hops, Laurelwood IPA. They are served in a variety of glasses, from 4 ounces to a 64-oz growler, and from two dollars to thirteen.

Chill on a Saturday night, the bar was full so we sat at the tables between the bar and the beer coolers. These are divided by styles and had some real goodies, including Eclipse Fifty Fifty, Brewdog Tokio, Boulevard barrel-aged RIS and Alesmith barrel-aged bottles. At $34, the Alesmith was six dollars cheaper than at Belmont, and those Eclipses were $25 a piece.

Super friendly service, all smiles. Great low prices. If they had a bit of a broader selection, BeerMongers would achieve beery nirvana.

Portland, Oregon is blessed with three of the finest bottleshop/tap rooms I've ever had the pleasure of visiting, and The Beer Mongers stands among them. Though not as comprehensive as, say, Belmont Station, it's still my favorite place to have a beer, be it an old standard or one you've never tried before. The staff is very friendly, and they obviously take beer very seriously. Great place to watch the game, too. Highly recommended.

These guys cram a ton of beers into a very cozy space. Not as many as Belmont Station but seriously a lot of beers. They have a nice well selected draft list, not very many like under 10 drafts I'd say but all very good quality beers. There is no food at beermongers but thats ok you can brink food in if you like. The reason I like it here so much are the people working there all very knowlegeable and extremely friendly. The other would be that their prices seem lower than others in town. One of my favorite bottle shops in town. Another cool thing, like many other bottle shops and breweries in PDX they are crazy about the Portland Timbers MLS so they will have the place decorated in Timbers colors and memorabilia. They have been showing soccer here I think every time I've stopped in which is cool.

Best place in PDX - all bartenders are extremely knowledgeable - there usually always IPA, Saison/Cider and Stout/Lagers on tap. They do not serve food but allow you to bring food in from neighboring food joints and occasionally the tamales-guy stops by. They show all Timbers game and always have sports on. You are allowed to drink the bottles/cans you purchase at the bar. All taps can be had in tasters, 4oz, 12oz, 16oz (+32oz and 64oz and growlers to go)

Wonderful bottle shop. They have a little taproom as well. It’s seriously cool and is unpretentious. They like to trade. We brought a really rare Chicago beer and literally got a tin sign off the wall. I liked it a bit more than belmont station. Not because belmont station isn’t wonderful. But because they aren’t quite as big and you can chat a bit better with the guys. Beermongers is right across the street from APEX, so you can make a night out of it. (Also not too far from Cascade and Green Dragon).
