Visited 8.10.11. for lunch.

Located just south of the historic circle at the center of Old Town Orange, Haven Gastropub is an upscale establishment which, along with Bruery Provisions, has brought a breadth of fresh air to central Orange County. While this is certainly a worthwhile destination especially for traveling BAs, note that despite the wealth of proximate parking lots, this is a very busy part of town, so you might have to exercise some patience to find a parking spot within walking distance.

The inside of Haven's features a 14 seat old wooden bar, looks like they might have reclaimed this from another establishment. There are approximately 20 four-top tables some with booths, and four tables on the street-side patio. The service was generally efficient without being intrusive, and was certainly helpful when questions were asked.

The tap list, while not extensive, was relatively top notch. During my visit they featured beers from a number of top notch breweries, including The Bruery (Batch 300), Craftsman (Triple Sage), Ballast Point, Deschutes (Black Butte XXIII), Dogfish Head, etc. Note that the beer prices are on the extreme high end for Orange County. I had the Batch 300 and my buddy had Duvel Single, we paid $9 for 25cl and 33 cl pours respectively. Close to D.C. type prices. Note there are only about a dozen taps, but once again most are of very high quality. Besides the beer they featured an extensive selection of top shelf liquors, including small-batch bourbons and wines. Given the price of the taplist (not to mention the prices of the bottled beers) not sure I want to venture into that part of the beverage selection.

The highlight was certainly the food. This place calls itself a gastropub and for good reason. I had the burger, served on brioche with a side of fries scented with truffle oil. My buddy had the short rib tacos (not Korean) which were delicious. They had an extensive list of upscale pub fare, include some rarely seen dishes, goat poutine, etc. Once again prices were on the very high side, we paid $14 for our lunches.

Given the price point this is more of a special occasion place than someone who isn't on an expense account could regularly afford. All in all, in a more affluent location this would be a really hopping place. In any case, certainly worth a visit.

Haven Gastropub is located in Old Towne Orange, a quaint area of Orange. It has a small town ambiance with a traffic circle that doubles as a town plaza.

They had both a bar area and table seating. The interior had lots of dark wood in its design which was very appealing. I sat at the bar and had a glass of sour with their pretzel. The mustard dip accompanying the pretzel was fantastic. The beer selection was pretty nice.

A nice gastropub in a nice area. I enjoyed my visit very much.

I visited this place while vacationing with my family. Lucky me it was during OC Beer Week and a Bottle Logic Tap Takeover. Needless to say I feel in love with this place. Very cool vibe. The hamburger was on point. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable.

Came for lunch. Amazing beer selection! They were doing a great flight from Drie Fonteinen including Framboos. Great tap selection and the bottle list was incredible. I did NOT think the prices were bad at all. The food was also incredible - we had the pork tacos, mac and cheese, and poutine. All were fantastic. Highly recommended.

I've been here quite a few times and am not sure how I didnt review this yet. Anyway, this review is from 8/14/12 with StarRaptor and Markintihar

Atm- Its built in the veign of an open restaurant style with open black ceilings, big windows along the side a fireplace and a big bar along the side. At night with the wood its a bit dark and nice with the low lighting.

Quality- Overall the quality of this place is great. The food is well crafted and super tasty. The beer is on point most of the time, Wish they had a bit more on tap at times. Most of the time its things that are pretty available in So.Cal. No real WOW beers. Bottles are pretty good as well.

Service- Always prompt and helpul, lots of yes sir and can I get you anything else. The chef and staff really make people feel at home.

Selection- Its a one page menu and thats okay. I just need more sometimes. Not a flaw per se just needs a bit of variety.

Food- Amazing everytime. Last night I got the lamb burger. WOW. Super flavorful and perfectly cooked to the chefs selection.

Value- I'm torn here. Its kinda in between reasonable and pricey. For 1 beer, chips and the burger was over $30.

I stopped by here for dinner on a short work related trip out to Anaheim. It was a Tuesday night, and the bar was pretty open. Most of the tables were filled.
I took a seat at the bar and waited a bit for the bartender to return. When he did, he offered me a tap list and food menu. Pretty decent selection on tap. About a dozen or so taps, and all quality stuff. Bottle list was quality as well, with what seemed like slightly higher than normal bar prices. I settled on a Golden Road Hefeweizen and a lamb burger. While I waited for my food, I noticed that even though the place was pretty full, it wasn't very loud. Not a big fan of bars that are so loud due to music and people shouting over it in order to be heard, so it was a big plus for me.
The food arrived, and both the burger and pomme frites were delicious. I finished up both food and beer and ordered a Ballast Point Sea Monster to finish up the evening.
Overall, I enjoyed this place. If I was a local, I probably wouldn't make it in regularly due to what seemed like slightly higher prices. However, both food and beer seem to be much appreciated here so you can rest assured you'll get a good meal in a pleasant atmosphere.
