This one pours a dark brown-amber with some orange hues. The scent seems to lack any notable floral or citrus tones, as does the taste. This is a lower-middle tier ipa, overall.

12 oz can enjoyed on Mother's day. Review from notes. Served cold into a pint glass. Listed as 5.9% ABV
Appearance - Pretty clear, decent golden color with some orange hues. A finger plus of soapy white head is poured and sticks around for medium duration.
Smell - Leafy hops with some noble ones too. Some earthiness and citrus, leaning more towards lemon and grapefruit.
Taste -Pretty much like the nose, some leafiness with lemon and grapefruit. A somewhat sharp astringency to close.
Mouthfeel - Fairly smooth, medium bodied, modest carbonation. No complaints.
Overall - Didn't realize this was effectively Walmart beer. It's not half bad. I've certainly had worse IPA's. Overall a bit of an American / English IPA mix. Would enjoy again.

Clear amber color with a thick big bubbly, clingy head. Ample scents of pomegranate, melon, orange peel and pine sap. Dug to find hints of maple and slight hints of melon and lime. Oily feel and finish.

Amber color with a thick thin head with decent retention and leaving some laces.
Aroma with notes of moth balls, caramel malt, cream and some citrusy.
Flavor with notes of pine, resin, earth, grapefruit citrusy, caramel and slightly toasted malts, and soap. Dry and bitter aftertaste.
Light towards medium body with appropriate carbonation.
After having all four of their core beer line up from Trouble brewing, I got the conclusion all recipes have the same standard base of similar hops, malt and maybe yeast. Nevertheless, this American IPA is the best of their offer. Still, I don’t like the hop profile with British earthy notes, moth balls and soap. Great pricing, though.

Type: 12-oz. can
Glass: Beer Nerd 12-oz. tulip
From: Grocery Outlet in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $5.99 for a variety 12-pack
Purchased: Nov. 9, 2017
Consumed: Nov. 9, 2017
Reviewed as: American IPA
Misc.: No canned on date
First time I’d ever seen this brewery in stores. The term brewery is used loosely as it is World Brews out of Novato, Calif., even though the can says Rochester, N.Y. (I know there is some relation there). Anyway, saw the Cat’s Away IPA for $2.99 for a 6-pack, then saw this variety 12-pack (also a pale ale, amber and witbier) for just $5.99. Had to pounce on it even though I knew each would probably be average. After the After Party Pale Ale (2.74) and Red Flag Amber (3.32) I was onto this Cat’s Away IPA.
Poured an amber clear color with 3-to-4 fingers of off-white rocky head. Some fast moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Excellent spiderweb foamy lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled dish soap, lime, Cascade, caramel, sweet floral, hints of white grapefruit, spoiled citrus rind, pear and white bread. More grapefruit from the can. (Smell - 3.50)
Tasted much maltier than the nose. Very unbalanced. Got caramel, bitter green leaf, spoiled citrus rind, dish soap, pine, Cascade and lime zest. (Taste - 2.75)
Medium body. Thin-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. (Feel - 2.75)
Not that big of a fan of this one. Not a lot of high points except for the look. (Overall - 2.75)

From a can bought as a “Trouble Brewing” variety pack at Wal-Mart. Into a pint glass, pale slightly hazy orange color, very little precipitating carbonation. Thick, clingly head of off white/tan clumpy foam, thin cap and collar but solid lacing. Nose of toasted malt, sweet fruity hops (citrus would be stretching it – maybe a tangerine or similar). In the mouth, nice bite up front that quickly fades to a semi-sweet, slightly cloying malt backbone finishing with a clean dry hoppy bite. Mouth is fairly average. Overall, a nice beer but nothing special. Would try again.

Looks good with a thick head. Has a bitter, citrusy taste. It’s a decent beer, but it won’t win any awards.
Sold at Walmart in a 12-can variety pack with 3 other flavors. Nice price ($12.99 for 12-pack).

Got this in a mixed variety (4) 12 pack from Wal Mart. Pours decent enough, golden color, 1/3" white head on the top. Aroma is seriously deficient in terms of dry hopping. Just nothing there but maybe a mild smattering of high alpha acid bittering hops used that weren't meant to convey hop aromatics.
Now, in the taste, there is plenty of that high alpha acid copper penny bitterness throughout the entire beer. To "compliment" that, there was a familiar diacetyl like presence in the mouth feel.
So this beer does two things decently: It looks ok, and it is affordably priced. Three things actually, it is easy to acquire being at Wal Mart and all.
Now for the bad things: Smell, Taste, Feel and Overall. Even if this didn't have the potential diacetyl, it would still be a near bottom tier ipa. Avoid.

Very attractive copper gold color with white cap and lacing.
Rather subdued aroma of clean hops without anywhere near the strength I associate with IPAs generally. My son says he gets peaches in the scent but he drinks Guinness so there's that.
Flavor is malt driven with a caramel layer that I missed in the aroma but it's certainly there in the flavor. A hop bitterness emerges mid palate and builds toward the finish. Not a very strong bitterness but noticeable. All in all it tastes like a hoppy amber and is pleasantly refreshing.
Medium texture with balancing carbonation that's also a bit creamy.
What can I say about this generic house brand? Well, it's a helluva lot better than Bud and doesn't cost much more.

I bought a 12 pack sampler of this at Wal-Mart, should have known better. Every style of the 4 different style beers in the sampler were horrible! Actually disgusting! Jars overwhelming alcohol flavors atop a lingering aftertaste of burnt old man grey pubic hair. Don't buy from this brewer I would rather drink a hot leinenkugels light. Yuck!!

12 oz. can - part of a variety pack (from Walmart):
Pours copper with a thin head. Little lacing.
The smell is of caramel and citrus.
The taste is a bit too caramel-forward for my liking, but there are enough citric hops to keep it in style. Bitter, leafy finish.
It is thin, but bitterness lingers long enough.
Not bad for a basic inexpensive American IPA.

Pours a clear copper color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Good retention and decent lacing. Smells of floral hops, sweet malt, slight spice, rice, slight pale malt, hint of earthiness, and rye. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, and strongly carbonated. Tastes of floral hops, spicy hops, earthiness, rice, rye, and slight pale malt. Overall, the rice and rye characteristics are a detriment and overly carbonated, but otherwise average.

A: Light copper color, 1/2 inch white head, good lacing
S: Pine hops, floral hops, caramel malts
T: I get the caramel and the sweetness from the malts right up front, next the bitter pine and floral hops come in, the aftertaste leaves the lingering caramel sweetness.
M: Medium
O: Not a bad beer especially for the price. I know Walmart has starting selling these and it is cheaper than your other crafts. Ill take this over macro lagers anyday.
