Stopped in here for the first time earlier this afternoon.

Handy Deli looks like any other mini-mart from the outside, and you might think the same about the interior upon first entering. After a few moments, however, you'll realize that this place is filled to the brim with beer, wine, and spirits! Seriously, no space is wasted - wine bottles crowd the shelves, liquor racks stretch 15' to 20' up into the rafters, and beer occupies nearly every wall cooler. Upon checking out, the owner told me that he was looking to expand the beer selection and add ten more wall coolers!

The beer selection at Handy Delicatessen is impressive. The owner obviously knows craft beer. I spotted lots of high-quality and hard-to-find American and European ales, including the following: Avery Mephistopheles and Maharaja; Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza and Maracaibo; Victory Baltic Porter, Hop Wallop, and Helios; Nøgne Ø Imperial Stout and IPA; Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel; Bruery Trade Winds Tripel and White Orchard; Cantillon Classic Gueuze; Brasserie Dieu Du Ciel Rigor Mortis; Firestone Parabola and Fourteenth Anniversary Ale.

The owner was both engaging and friendly, and really seemed to know his craft beer. Going off thirstynoah's review, I could imagine Jerry does give discounts to his regular customers - he seems like that kinda guy.

This place is a block from my house, the owner Jerry is very nice and a good business man. He's not as knowledgeable about beer as someone you might find in the specialty shops such as City Beer, but he's pretty good about getting in a lot of special releases.

Regular six-pack prices tend to be phenomenal but the sticker prices on some of the limited release items can be a bit higher than average. However, Jerry is very good about giving discounts to his regular customers, and I always leave feeling like I got a good deal.

In the last year the selection has grown considerably and I've picked up a number of rare(ish) gems here including Black Butte XXI, 2009 Abyss and Firestone Walker's XII and XIII anniversary beers.
