This was the strangest aquire of a beer that i have registered to date. Was traveling back to Columbus, OH from a Kentucky sales run on I-71...stopped at a remote gas station to fill up....and there on the trash/windshield cleaner combo can was a can of midnight oil from Florida....ahhh yeah I shanghai'd it. Crazy. It poured an opaque dark with no head and no lace. The scent and taste was dominated by coffee. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with smoot carbonation. Overall it's a decent stout.

12 oz can brought down from Gainsville.
Smell - deep coffee aroma, dark roasted malts, dark chocolate and some spicy notes.
Look - Black as night. Fully opaque. One inch thick tan head that dissipates rather quickly.
Taste - muted roasted malts, burnt like but not sharp. Stale coffee, some chocolate and pronounced unbalanced bitterness. I taste a bit of oxidation.
Feel - medium full body, creamy rich texture as expected in an oatmeal stout. moderate carbonation. Astringency faint, almost absent. Finish is long and bitter almost to harsh level.
Overall - Very disappointing. Had this beer fresh and in the taste is where this one has deteriorated a lot. Now just a shadow. As a coffee left behind.

Look- Oil black hence the name with a small light head
Smell- Overwhelming smell of coffee. Also strong scent of roasted malts.
Taste- Coffee as expected. Somewhat bitter. Complemented by a roasted malt finish.
Feel- Much lighter than expected. Light bodied stout.
Overall- Good beer. Coffee stout is somewhat bitter and nose is quite strong. Very smooth and drinkable considering being a stout beer. Low ABV for a stout but a good choice if you are a fan of a heavy coffee taste.

Pours a thin (understandably for the abv) but still somewhat viscous and oily midnight black with a thin layer of bubbly dark brown foam.

Strong notes of freshly brewed coffee and heavily roasted malt.

Aroma translates identically to flavor with straight up cold pressed coffee and nice warming roasty notes.

Medium-full bodied, low carbonation, roasty, easy drinking.

Overall, I admit this isn't my favorite standard coffee stout, but the folks at swamp head did a fantastic job on making this incredibly drinkable. Great brew!

Served an imperial pint, the beer dark brown board earring on black with a brown head.

Nose of coffee and heavily roasted malts. It's inviting.

Taste leads with percolator coffee and roasted almost charred malts and a bit of molasses. There is some dark fruit and earthy notes but the coffee notes are dominant.

For some reason I expected a much thicker mouth but the mid-level heft and low carbonation are fine.

This was recommended by the bartender at the Side Car in San Marco. I'm glad I listened to her.
