A clean, crisp beer, Kolsch offers a very slight fruity flavor and aroma. It is light gold in color, with a delicate head. This light-bodied beer appeals to nearly everyone who samples it. Expect to enjoy a slight tang in the finish.

Our Brew Master Says…
"Kolsch is my favorite light beer style, hands down. Crisp, tangy and light on the palate: outstanding."

Food Pairings:
Leafy green salad with creamy dressing, broiled lobster, grilled or steamed shrimp, fried soft shell crab, peach cobbler.

Poured into an Hannen Alt glass on 9/30/12

The color of pineapple juice, but not as cloudy. One thumb cap of white foam.

Buttered bread and grains are at the fore of the aroma, backed up with earthy hops. Hints of metallic hops and steamed veggies. The taste is mostly comprised of qualities mentioned in the former of the two prior sentences. Very grainy, and somewhat buttery. Hops are appropriately low. The metal and vegetal notions are absent here. The feel is a plush medium-light, with a rolling graininess and soft, billowy carbonation.

Overall: Though not the best take on a Kolsch in the region (COAST handily has that distinction), this is easily drinkable and better than I was expecting based on the aroma.

Pours golden without much head or lacing.
A yeasty kinda sweet aroma.
Taste of lemon and grainy overtones.
Medium bodied and dry mouth feel through the aftertaste.
A very good example of this brew type.
Would rank a solid 'yes' on the would you like to sit down with a 12 pack of this brew scale

Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass. A thin white head drops quickly with mild lacing. Pale golden color with moderate streaming bubbles. Mouthfeel is light with a dry finish. Flavors of yeasty bread, lemon, grass, a bit of honey. Overall a decent kolsch.

From notes 2/19/13: Pours clear pale gold with only a finger of somewhat lasting, tightly bubbled, white head that leaves on a hint of lace. Aroma is cereal, pale, cracker and biscuit, yeast, lemon, floral a a hint of grassy hops. Taste is sweet grain, biscuit, with notes of lemony citrus and grass; it finishes dry, spicy, peppery and bitter with a lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. There is an alkaline or mineral-like hint throughout the sip that becomes more prominent in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and dry with a strong carbonation bite that is lively on the back of the tongue.
