Dark porter with a very fizzy 1/2 finger head that went away very quickly. The smell leaves something to be desired; almost metallic faint smell tings the nose. Taste is very carbonated and lacking. Again, metallic flavors come to mind with very mild citrus undertones. Not sure how else to describe the taste. Not a fan. Overall, I'm disappointed. Was hoping to enjoy a smooth breakfast-y brew, but seemingly instead got a weird tasting soft drink.

poured from 12oz bottle into a pint glass

Appearance: pours dark brown with chestnut highlights when held to the light, sandy tan head that deflates fairly quickly into big bubbles .Dissipates into a thing layer of foam across the top of the beer in about 3 minutes. Leaves microfoamy bubbles on the sides of the glass. Certainly looks drinkable.

Aroma: Smells of chocolate and roast with a nutty scent mixed in. Little bits of caramel but mostly dark chocolate and coffee. Not roaringly complex but no off aromas.

Taste: Flavor is light, roasted coffee and nuts with dark chocolate on the back end some malty sweetness throughout. Finish is black coffee bitter and dry. Not very sweet for an oatmeal porter , displays its roasty character well. Flavors are clean and well put together but overall a little weak. Good for session consuming for sure.

Mouthfeel: Body is light overall carbonation is a tad higher than I would like though not annoying. Usually a certain amount of oily character comes across with the use of oatmeal which this beer lacks. Not sure if thats a flaw but it is something I usually look for in oatmeal beers. Does aid its drinkability though.

Overall: A good beer with center being on classic portet flavor body and drinkability. Not a world beater but for sure a good option for fall sipping or sessioning.
