Purchased this beer at an Asheville beer store during Christmas.

Poured into a tulip glass. Dark brown color with a brief effervescent brown head and good curtain lacing. Pleasant chocolate and bourbon smell and taste. A bit of French roast coffee. I thought a bit thin for the style, but overall a nice stout.

750ml corked/caged bottle served in a flared goblet. Bottled on 2018. My brother shipped it to me earlier this year.

Pours black with a small, dark tan head. Smell is boozy, burnt caramel, vanilla, molasses.

Taste is pretty straightforward stout. Chocolate and roast coffee, a little anise and char. Vanilla and bourbon are there, lightly, very late.

Mouthfeel is on the light side for a barrel aged stout (though not "light" by any stretch), slight chalky texture. Overall...it's a bit on the tame side for a barrel aged stout, but if you're looking for a slightly-amped-up-by-bourbon-barrel standard stout, this is a great choice.

750ml bottle at share, vintage 2015 (with Silent Night on the label). Inky black pour with a thin beige head. Roasty malts and chocolate come up in the aroma, along with traces of vanilla.Taste adds a little coffee to the roasty chocolate, and for 9.5% its pretty darn boozy too.

Bottle from 2019:
Not quite black with a creamy tan to brown head. Not really much lacing, though the amount of lasting head isn't the cause. Nose is chocolate in brownie form with the oak, cola, and mild vanilla notes of the barrels rounding out the nose. Flavor is a little more cola with the spice from the bourbon cutting into the chocolate malt notes. As a trick of the mind, the spirit seems to thin out the beer as well, though the body is just a little lighter than many big BBA stouts today. Pretty well constructed, though maybe just a little heavy on the barrel flavors.

L: Had this beer on-tap at Brewmasters - Wilson, poured into a snifter glass. Had a jet black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, tan-colored, fairly long-lasting head. Pretty good lacing.

S: A good, but not spectacular, aroma of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, hops, vanilla, and booze.

T: Tasted of a hint of vanilla (lingers around), a decent shot of coffee (the main ingredient here), a bit of bourbon (and its accompanying barrel), a hint of hops (mostly in the finish; kind of fleeting), and a good amount of roasted malt (present throughout). A solid, if slightly uneven flavor.

F: A fair amount of carbonation with a silky smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This is an uneven beer, but it has bright spots. Worth a try.

On tap at the Mother Earth tasting room. A 1" tan head falls slowly with plenty of lacing. Color is dark reddish brown, nearly black. Aroma of rich roasted malt and bourbon. Mouthfeel is thick with a pleasant finish. Flavors of chocolate, coffee, vanilla, bourbon. Overall delicious.

It is a black beer with a dark creamy chestnut head that reaches one inch before receding to a thin veil. Lacing forms a fine coating that breaks up into patchy clouds.

The Antiek snifter focuses rich chocolate brownies against a backdrop of sweet dark roasted coffee. Also revealed is plum pudding, light bourbon, and deep roasted malt that is almost burned. Warmth draws out vanilla, a touch of Amarillo, and accents of bourbon.

Flavor follows the nose with the roasted qualities being amplified. While it is quite bitter up front, sweetness builds from the middle and late into a long finish. Warmth brings out faint smokiness and a suggestion of anise.

The thick full body has a texture of combed wool that is a bit slick. Alcohol is powerful just short of warming. Fine carbonation throughout.

This is a solid Imperial Stout, worthy of the adjective "imperial". This beer deserves to be enjoyed slowly with someone you love.
