A new beer hangout in West Asheville on the main drag across the street from the Westville Pub. In an old but restored gas station/garage so the place has some rustic charm to it. Nice outdoor patio seating area and large rolling doors that make the inside feel outside in season.

Walked in and looked at the tap list---15 out of 16 solid choices, hey it's Asheville the beers best be solid. Plenty of local selections from the likes of Pisgah, Highland, French Broad and Wedge. Out of towners that caught my eye were Bell's Two-Hearted and hello...Founder's Breakfast Stout. Thanks...FBS all around please...oh a pitcher for $20, sure! The only "dud" PBR for the yellow beer fans....hey at least it's not a true BMC product!

Our server was pleasant, talkative and served with plenty of efficiency. Good marks considering this place is new.

All in all a nice place with a solid beer selection that adds to the building nightlife in the Westville neighborhood. I would certainly visit again next time I am in Asheville.

Headed to Asheville for Brewgrass weekend. Hooked up with an old bartender friend as a guide and wound up at the Universal Joint for lunch. Wonderful draught selection featuring several local Asheville beers and Founder's Breakfast Stout as an out of state feature. All draughts were excellent.

Ordered fish tacos and burgers for lunch. Both were excellent. Good service from one of the owners and two other servers.

If you are into places that look like the Tap Room at Sierra Nevada in Chico, the Universal Joint will be much too casual for you. But if you grew up working on cars or hanging around the local downtown hangout, you will love this place.

We will be back whenever we are in Asheville.

I never really make it to the west side of town except for when I do my afternoon long trips throughout the town and recently I had the chance to hit almost all the new places. This was a quick stop in for me as I drove through. Almost across the street from the westville, I used the parking lot next door and walked to it. Nice little place, the front looks vaguely like a classic auto shop still. Tap list was about what you get everywhere in asheville, local, local, local. First time I had seen some of the new French Broad stuff. Eevryone seemed friendly and the vibe is very chill. A solid place to visit on this side of town for sure.
