It was a surprise gift for my birthday.
Poured the 33cl bottle into a teku as a don't own any proper Kasteel glassware.
Very good, taste like caramel and highly drinkable despite the 7%ABV Cheers!

L: Quite clear amber color, quarter finger white head, messy lacing, lots of carbonation.

S: Very mild hops, caramel.

T: Caramel and some sort of medicine :) Malty on the back end.

F: Not very drinkable due to its very high carbonation but mouthfeel is good.

O: OK beer but nothing really special.

Clear golden colour with a thin head (basically an atol around the edges of the glass) of foam. Weak smell of yeast and flowers. Taste is average at first (at the suggested serving temp): yeasty, a little hoppy, but slowly gains more fruity notes (pear, apricot) and gets pretty good near the end. Nice, but there are a lot of better blondes out there.

330ml bottle into a snifter glass. Paid £2.80 for a single bottle.

Pours a clear, dark, yellow-orange coloured body with masses of dense, fine streaming carbonation. A two-finger in height, foamy, pure white coloured head with excellent retention dissipates slowly, leaving thick, sticky lacing on the glass.

On the nose, yeasty ripe banana and clove are prominent along with more subtle citrus notes, light bready malts, sweet caramel and a touch of floral and dry grassy hops. Sweet overall, the taste follows the nose but even after warming the flavour profile remains light and deficient of any real character or robustness. Sweet bready malts lead the taste upfront with a very subtle touch of banana and caramel in the middle. A light body and well-hidden ABV% make for easy drinking, but overall the mouth-feel is disappointingly thin as well as over carbonated. On the end a small amount of grassy, earthy, bitter hops provide a little complexity but the finish is far too drying and astringent on the palate.

Overall this is a very average beer. I can’t say I’d happily part with my own money to try this one again, I'd much prefer an Orval given the choice.
