Delicious coffee flavor combined with chocolate in very drinkable stout. Not very sweet or rich milk stout, but at 5.3% ABV, an exceptional winner. In these days of strong beers, this brew is a welcome derivative of the style. If only Narragansett varieties were more readily available in PA, they would be hugely popular.

Picked up this pounder for $2.75 at the House of 1,000 beers. Into my goblet

A - What a deep dark roast! Very pitch black in color with an impressive inch plus of mocha tinted head.
S - Has the good qualities I want in a coffee stout a sort of roast like espresso and a bit of milk sugars for sweetness. Not the best smelling coffee beer but its not offensive.
T - Not bad no metallic taste and some bitter coffee notes rounded with some lactic like sugar and hops in the finish. Balanced enough with some lingering bitterness each sip.
M - for 5% the body is decent enough not heavy but not as creamy as I wanted.

Overall a pretty standard coffee stout that gets merits for being cheap and in a pounder form. Still not sure if I would get a second...

A: Pours very dark brown, looks almost like coffee. Has an enormous foamy head that dissipates slowly and ultimately sticks around.
S: I haven't quite trained up my nose so all I can smell is alcohol. My b
T: Very pronounced yet tame coffee flavor, in fact I'd say the taste is 50/50 coffee/stout. Lacks bitterness or acidity providing a very pleasant, easy drink.
F: Very thin and watery. Disappointing especially considering the impressive head.
O: Coffee fiends will fall in love with this, and aside from the feel there's nothing offensive about this beer. Use this to get your coffee-addicted friends hooked onto beer.

I pretty much completely agree with the previous reviewer here. The flavor is very milky coffee. It's a bit sweet, but in more of a creamy way than a sugary or malty way. The coffee flavor is pretty mild and not bitter or acidic at all, with the lactose really taking over both in taste, smell, and texture. It's creamy, but also rather thin and light-bodied, which to me is weird for a stout. Not a negative, just took some getting used to. But overall, perfectly enjoyable if you want a light, mild, simple stout.

I immediately pick up a lot of lactose sugar on the nose. Coffee takes a back seat, but shows up subtly with some vanilla and dark chocolate. Kind of wish the aroma was a little roastier, though. The flavor profile starts off with mild coffee flavor, while finishing with some vanilla and lactose sugar. Simple, but the taste works. What doesn't work is the super thin mouthfeel. It literally feels like almost nothing - on the plus side, it's extremely easy to drink. Carbonation is medium. A decent coffee stout, it just needs to be beefed up about 25%.

3.32/5: A bit dinky, but I could drink it all day if inclined

Poured from a pounder into a nonic:

Appearance: dark, deep brown, bordering on black in body, with a nice, fluffy mocha-colored head. Body is visibly slightly viscous.

Aroma: nice notes of sweetness and lactose to start, with a tiny bit of bitterness in the middle. Finishes slightly roasty. It could've packed a little more coffee punch, but as far as canned stouts go, its pretty damn nice smelling.

Taste: surprised by how much I liked this one. The coffee flavor has lots of depth, and the light notes of fruit and bitterness in the coffee actually come through. This is buoyed by a solid foundation of roasty malt and lots of smooth, creamy sweetness from the lactose. Really nice from Narragansett.

Feel: thought it was more porter than stout, but it was solid. Very creamy and smooth, and the carbonation was perfect. Just a little lighter-bodied than I would have wanted.

Overall: I'd drink these any time. One of my favorite brews from Narragansett thus far. A very solid milk stout.
