Narragansett America's Cup 2017Narragansett America's Cup 2017
Notes: Each year, the world’s best sailors and fastest boats race for the oldest trophy in International Sport – America’s Cup. Narragansett Beer sponsored the America’s Cup during the 1960’s-1980’s so it’s only natural that with our return, we sponsor the event once again. We are proud to announce the Narragansett Bermuda Style Pilsner as the OFFICIAL beer of America’s Cup.

This easy-drinking pilsner is made with 2-row pale and carapils malts for a clean and slightly sweet profile. We then use a kiss of German Hallertau hops for a slightly spicy and flowery compliment. The sessionability and carbonation make this beer a go-to for hot summer days on the water. The Bermuda Style Pilsner will be available year-round through the completion of the America’s Cup in Bermuda in July 2017.

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that quickly died down but left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and lots of lacy rings of bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of bready malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of bready malts. Although no hop flavors or bitterness are detectable, the underlying hops serve to mask any sweetness from the malts.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer was quite malty and seems like it could use more hop bitterness.

Poured into a pint glass. Clear golden color. Started out a little bitter and "sharp" but settled into a smoother but unremarkable brew. Seems like more citrus than malt up front. Decent but not great.

A solid, simple, standard American macro-brew. Pretty bland, with a slight bitter aftertaste. Probably better than the BMC beers of this world, but not something I would savor or value. It's pretty unmemorable, except for the price. I saw this on special for less than $12 for a case (24) of 16 oz cans, so I picked up a case. For the price, tt's an enjoyable beer experience, but not something I would hand to a person who drinks beer for flavor or subtlety. However, when a case costs less than a 4-pack of the good stuff, I take notice, and I can hand it to people who don't know (or care about) the difference. Totally worth it.

Golden in color. See through in appearance. Light, crisp and refreshing. Shorter, very feint bitter finish. Paid 4 bucks for a 4 pack. Totally worth it. Not bad at all.

Tallboy in a pilsner glass.

Appearance: Clear straw with a one-finger white head that disappears swiftly.

Aroma: Some grain, some grass. Not a whole lot.

Taste: Clean pilsner taste. Cereal grains, grass. Some crisp, slightly hopped bite.

Mouthfeel: Clean and easy. Refreshing.

Overall: Solid pilsner. Not way off from the Bohemian pilsner they did a couple years ago. Unspectacular but decent.

Picked this one up over the weekend on a whim, bright blue 16oz can with Bermuda Style Pilsner listed below the name. Pours lighter yellow, nice white head on this.

Smell isn't too profound, some grainy bread and yeast. Flavor starts a bit sweet, there's some bready notes and bit of grain. Maybe the smallest hint of hops with some bitterness in the back, touch of citrus. Clean lager yeast finish.

All in all this is a nice pilsner from Narragansett, hope it sticks around for next Spring.

Poured from a 16oz can into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color with a medium foamy white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick but spotty lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains lager yeast, caramelized malts, some hops and some citrus.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of lager yeast and a hearty but not too heavy malt character up front. Then a mild but complementary hops presence comes in. There is also some mild sweetness from flavors of citrus and caramel that provides a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a long time.

16oz. pounder served in a nonic. Pours a translucent gold with a loose, 1/8th inch, off-white head that dissipates towards the shoulders. Tiny bubbles are present effervescing in solution. Nose expresses grassy notes, a hint of sour mash and a suggestion of adjuncts. Taste follows nose - no real surprises here. Mouthfeel is light in body with a mild, even carbonation and a slight wateriness to the overall feel. All and all, a solid drinkable offering but definitely has a bit of a mass-produced feeling to it.
