Style: American Blonde Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.20%

Availability: Summer

Notes / Commercial Description:
Narragansett Summer is a light session ale made with two row pale malt and citra hops. The citra hops are a very popular, newer variety that deliver aromas of citrus and passion fruit without overpowering the taste buds. The beer is blonde in color and the mild kiss of the hops complement the pale malt perfectly, making it extremely drinkable.

I got this one from Iimmush, cheers Tim!

Pours an effervescent hay color with 2 fingers of ivory head. Above average head retention & very good lacing

S: Perfumy & grassy hop notes

T: Follows the nose, plus sweet grainy cereal notes. More sweet graininess as this warms along with lemons. Finishes grassy with sweet grainy notes

MF: Light bodied with soft carbonation, pretty good balance

An alright blonde ale, just not enough flavor to get too amped up about

A - pale gold with a huge, thick cap of pure white head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing

S - cereal grains and maybe some citrus and grass

T - cereal grains, grassy, very mild bitterness in the finish

M - light bodied, crisp, well carbonated

This is a nice light beer that is easily quaffable. There isn't much here in the way of flavor but it is refreshing and easy to drink straight from the can. This is a great BMC replacement beer as well as a light lawnmower or tailgate beer.

16oz can.

Really clear pale gold, shade or two darker than a macro lager. Nice eggshell head, sticks around admirably.

Aroma is vaguely hoppy--grass, citrus-- and slightly grainy. Clean and pleasant.

Flavor is a bit too grainy, especially as it warms. Crackery, husky, biscuity. Medium-low sweetness. Hop flavor is lemony and leafy, though low overall. Mouthfeel is pretty full for a beer so low in gravity. Effervescent carbonation.

This is a nice summer beer. Very drinkable.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a perfect pint glass.

Pours as a clear golden ale with thick fluffy white foam. Head holds and becomes patchy. Light summery nose, mild malt. Small citrus taste. Good mouthfeel, swirls nicely.

An easy summer drinker. Not remarkable, but good enough flavor.

16oz tallboy can poured into a pint glass.

A: Clear golden color with a two inch white head. One can get that cascading bubbles effect with a more aggressive pour. Modest retention, light rings of lacing.

S: Lots of pale malts. Doughy bread and some grain. Grassy hops, citrus zest, and a light spicy smell. A tad floral and perfumey as well. There's some subtle complexity in the hop profile here. Good.

T: Starts out bready and grainy. A lemony citrus zest cuts in shortly. Doughy bread tastes re-establish themselves and ensure balance. Interesting hop tastes come out just before the finish. Distinctively American, citric and fruity. Must be the citra. A very dry beer throughout. Finishes grainy with more of those interesting hop notes. On the whole, the taste is rather understated and does not deliver. Pity, the nose was so promising.

M: Very light, thin and watery. Seltzer-like carbonation adds bite. Meh.

O: I really wanted to like this beer, but in the end it's really just a bit above average.

Notes: Too dry for my taste, and the mouthfeel lacks substance. Good nose, but it's downhill from there. Not bad for a lawnmower/beer pong beer, but if I want a nice tasty APA, I'll look elsewhere.

Question: Why is this classified as a Blonde ale on this site when the folks at Narragansett clearly labeled it a Pale Ale? It certainly tastes more like a blonde ale, but if they're going to call it a Pale Ale, I'm going to rate it as such.

Poured into an imperial pint glass a clear light golden with a 1/2 finger white head atop.Aromas were real light a bit of floral hops and toasted grain, really light to be honest.grainy with mild sweetness on the palate,a light smattering of leafy hops,a decent toasted ceral grain note in the finish. It's not bad...maybe rated to high but it's good for what it is,a summertime quaffer.

At the time of this review, this is the #1 American Blonde Ale on beeradvocate.com. YES!!! Another #1!!! Poured from a 16 ounce tall boy into a stange.

Beer is yellow and completely clear with a two finger head of small white bubbles that leaves some lacing on the glass. Carbonation moderate, looks good.

Aroma? HELLO!!! Aroma? I guess he went out to get a pack of smokes.

Beer is medium to light in body, moderately carbonated on the palate and good throughout. The finish isn't dry or bitter, just a nice finish with no aftertaste. The lead off is a little sweet, mild malt, intermediate levels of yeast character on the middle and a clean finish. I'd have it again, unoffensive, sort of a perfect circle sort of beer.

16oz can

Pours a slightly hazed blonde color with a large crop of white head. A few patches of lacing streak across the glass while drinking.

Faint spicy hops with hints of citrus fruit. Biscuity malts and grains with some lemon.

Brisk and clean up front with a light hoppy presence. Touches of citrus fruit and a very soft sweetness. Biscuit and grain in the base with some lingering lemon presence. A little grassy towards the finish.

Lighter medium body, well carbonated, refreshing and cooling on the senses. This beer isn't trying to blow you away, which actually works perfectly. I'm not really a fan of the style but I'd definitely buy this again.

Poured into a Creature Comforts nonic pint. No readable freshness date.

A- Pours a clean dark golden color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a full sheet of surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a broken ring behind.

S- Cracker-like malt aroma that's slightly sweet.

T- Your usual blonde ale flavor profile with some grainy malt, tiny amount of hop bitterness and a clean, easygoing drinkability.

M- Somewhat crisp with medium carbonation and a light body.

O- Has decent balance for a blonde ale but ultimately leaves me wanting more. Looking for something cheap to play beer pong with? Look no further.
