Made on Honor for five generations, The Famous Narragansett Lager has been one of the greats since 1890. Pre-Prohibition era drinkers toasted 'Gansett, Dr. Suess illustrated 'Gansett, the Sox scored with 'Gansett, and Captain Quint crushed 'Gansett. Today, the highest rated, heritage American lager (according to Beer Advocate) is brewed to be clean, crisp, refreshing and perfectly balanced. "Hi Neighbor! Have a 'Gansett!"

Drank from a 12 fl. oz. bottle purchased at Julio's Liquors, Westboro, MA
Poured a clear, golden yellow with a hint of crimson. Two-finger fizzy head faded to a thin film and a ring of lace. Some sporadic droplets of lacing remained as the beer was drunk.
Smell was fresh and fruity, and not in the least bit skunky like so many other macros. Pears, apples and and possibly some candied sugar were noticeable along with a hint of hops in the background.
Taste was malty up front and then turned fruity (citrus was most apparent). Clean, crisp, slightly hoppy finish.
Mouthfeel was somewhat creamy with a decent body for this style. Perfect carbonation.
Drinkability was outstanding. So refreshing and light, yet so flavorful. Perfect with most cuisine.
This macro truly distinguishes itself from a majority of its counterparts.

Drank so many of these in my college days because I had a buddy from RI who would always bring like 48 of these bad boys for the weekend. Cheap, nicely carbonated, and good bang for your buck. Great visual puzzles on the cap which always enhances the beer-drinking experience.
Is it a good beer? No. Is it an unfussy, drinkable beer that is both affordable and not watery swill? Yes. If I want to buy a lot of one beer for a weekend with the boys, I'd go with the 'Gansett.

12 ounce can poured into a 12 ounce glass Canned January 2024
L: tan like weak brewed iced-tea, fair amount of carbonation hence streaming bubbles
S: Grains, pine
T: Nondescript, generic beer flavor. Works for this beer though
F: Light, watery, clean, crisp
O: Not bad for the everyday beer drinker. I could easily see Homer drinking one at Moe's instead of Duff.

A true Nod to nostalgia. A Light beer, snappingly crisp. Good carbonation, not over the top. Overall, an honest simple lager that knows what it is and doesn’t try to be what it’s not.

For a German beer lover, this is pretty close to an everyday drinkable American adjunct, rare as unicorns. Pretty balanced, only minimal suspect flavor, mostly decent.

Spotted this while grabbing some Genesee cream ales and a 6pack of Old Style, swapped the Old Style for this, and I'm not impressed. Lack of flavor ad just poor in taste. Bland, not good.

12 oz bottle. Not bad for a cheap beer. The taste brings me back about 50 years when these lagers were pretty much all that was available. I'm now pretty much an IPA drinker so it's not surprising that I am rating it this way.

This is a unique yet flavorful beer. It reminds me oddly of Rheingold. It’s got a slightly metallic note with a cross between roasted Maize and bubblegum . Very interesting beer!
