Notes:
Made on Honor for five generations, The Famous Narragansett Lager has been one of the greats since 1890. Pre-Prohibition era drinkers toasted 'Gansett, Dr. Suess illustrated 'Gansett, the Sox scored with 'Gansett, and Captain Quint crushed 'Gansett. Today, the highest rated, heritage American lager (according to Beer Advocate) is brewed to be clean, crisp, refreshing and perfectly balanced. "Hi Neighbor! Have a 'Gansett!"

16oz can
Pours two fingers of white head into my Pilsner glass, fades pretty quickly. Zero lacing. Body is golden yellow, crystal clear, with a moderate amount of bubbles coming up. Looks somewhat poor.
Considerable malty sweetness on the nose, not off putting, but it comes across relatively fake.
Definitely a sweeter macro; flavor is malty, some underlying esters. Again, not off putting, but a little odd, and certainly on the edge of what is acceptable for the style.
Carbonation is on the higher side. Pretty light bodied. Bitterness is extremely low. Overall the mouthfeel is fine.
Drinkability is decent.
Overall ok I guess, but not very good. There are noticeable flavors outside of the standard corn lager profile - those esters really start to get pronounced as the beer warms and makes things a little hard to enjoy.

A true New England classic. Does it tase like rainwater that has rolled off a tin roof and has collected in an uncleaned gutter? Yes, but that's OK! Back in the college days you could a tall boy can at T's Pub for $3 and soak in the scenes of bad karaoke, sticky floors and a mixd crowd of college students and townie terrier fans. It was glorious. 'Gansett is the dive bar go to. If you can if you can find it, crush it like Quint!

Poured from a 16oz can
On the pour 2 fingers of white fizzy head formed with more retention than I expected. After a couple minutes, a decent covering remains, although still fizzy amd leaving no lacing. The body is a clear gold with high carbonation.
Aroma has a cheap slightly sweaty slightly sour funk to it. Standard of the price range, but lagers shouldn't have belgian aromas.
Taste is cleaner, but not super crisp. Some acetaldehyde is present before a light corny crackery malt takes over. Surprisingly not sweet.
Feel is fizzy and very carbonated. Still, quite drinkable. Longer finish than most AALs. Dry finish but mouth coating.
Overall, drink this from the can. Pouring it in a glass ruins the whole vibe, as well as the experience. Not great, but cheap and regional. IMO it's overhyped.

This brew was initially described to me as “New England PBR” and that is honestly more accurate than not. Bit heady when you pour but drinking straight outta the can is the best way to experience this beer. Especially for the first time! Subtilely strew with light notes of barely and hops and I taste a nice little malty finish. Not necessarily superior to PBR, when it comes to “good cheap beer,” but definitely something you shouldn’t be surprised to find in my fridge or a cooler that I bring to yer backyard BBQ!

5 bucks more than a hamms for a 30 pack. can't get a good looking pour no matter the glass or pour. looks bad, fading head little lacing. redeems itself with the taste. Doesn't have as much funk as a hamm's but doesn't look as good in the glass. ymmv.

Bumped into a 12 pack in a liquor store in Colorado Springs. Hadn't had a Gansett since I was stationed in Newport, RI in 1967. Wow, what a memory jolt. A clean, crisp AAL with a nice golden pour and good white head that disappears real fast.

Picked up a single from TW-Greenville, SC 7-27-22 for $1.49. Canning code C172 13 10:06 which could be 3-17-22; consumed 9-27-22. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured deep gold with a pretty good white head with the original pour.
Nose is sweet and grainy with a light touch of hops.
Taste is a sweet malt base that has a light touch of hops added in but finishes just more than slightly sweet.
Mouthfeel is light bodied and pretty refreshing.
Overall a pretty decent AAL.

16oz can. An OG American lager. Yes it’s an oldie… but it’s also a goodie. $1.25 a can from Whole Foods. I’m in New England, by the water. It’s 32C and 55% humidity. Sometimes this type of beer perfectly suits the environment.

16 ounce can poured into a tulip glass.
L---CRYSTAL clear, medium golden color. Big white head faded quickly to a cap and left ok lacing.
S---Grainy with some backing hoppiness.
T---Grains, some balanced malts & hops.
F---Medium bodied with good carbonation.
O---As good as you're going to get with an AAL.

Poured a light golden color with a small white head. The smell is of some hops and grains and smells like a beer should.
The taste is of hops and grains and that good old beer taste I remember from my younger days.

Poured from an undated 16 oz. can: bright and clear golden hue with a quickly receding white head. This is a very shiny and attractive pour; hopefully, the flavor will match.
The aroma is very faint with minerals and subtle malt. There is a very light and ephemeral aroma of perfume.
If you don't expect much, you can be pleasantly surprised. Given the overall low ratings, I assumed this would not be satisfying at all. Quite the contrary, I found this an enjoyable and dependable lager with a nice malt profile that is complemented by some subtle hops. It is far from the best lager I have tried, but it is quaffable and refreshing for a hot, Florida summer day. The mouthfeel is clean with no strange or offputting aftertaste. I am pleased to find it in Florida now.

So, I don't want to come off as Homer, couldn't be further from the truth, or the brewery itself. When a local taproom here in SW Ohio got it, it took me back 35 years! A friend of mine have parents who both own social clubs in RI, and wow, did I drink too much of this!
Enough of that. It gets hot and muggy here, and you love to have something crisp, cold and clean, other than Miller Lite! Not sweet like a Bud Light. Nice clean finish. Good beer when it's hot and you just want a couple coldies.

It is adjunct lager done well. It has a malt sweetness rather than corn. It smells like an American beer, there is a bit of hops that is present through the finish. It is mild but stays and does not change to funk. This is crisp, refreshing and drinkable.

Very clear gold orange appearance.
Just below average carbonation with a very slightly thin body.
Aroma is malt, buckwheat honey,, grain, cereal, bread, there's a sugary floral cereal aroma as well
Taste is a bit more subdued than aroma but otherwise its close to aroma. Slightly sweet which lingers in the aftertaste.
I can see why people knock this but it was reasonably priced and was very enjoyable.

From the can, it pours a clear light golden color with a modest white head that soon reduces to a ring. No lacing. The nose gets grainy malts. The mouth gets the same - a pleasant light lager.

Smells and tastes like beer. Shocker. Too many beer snobs in here. This beer is really good for what it is. I've ordered it from Drizly twice and I got 18 the other day from the closest place I could get it... an hour away. Lol. I'm glad it doesn't smell and taste like pine cones. Cheers!

16oz can served in a Wise Man shaker pint. Dated L011 13 00:52, whatever that means. @superspak sent me in his NBS BIF #15 barrage.
Pours clear dark gold with a modest head that collapses into a fairly thick, uneven skin, and a substantial amount of carbonation. Smell is lager funk, grain, maybe a slight skunkiness. Smells like a fairly normal AAL.
Taste is mostly the same -- lager funk, grain, maybe less of the skunkiness. A little bit of grass, and something slightly spicy about it. Moderate sweetness.
Mouthfeel is light and thin. Overall, it's a perfectly fine AAL.

Canned 05/04. Solid lager all around, and tastes really good. Darker pour than most AALs, nice malty aromas and balanced, bready flavors. Very smooth, though a tad watery in the mouthfeel. Very happy to have tried it and found it fresh. Would have this again happily.

First new adjunct in a while I’m hyped.

This is the Wendy Byrde of beers. She just lures you right in, and makes you wanna believe that maybe, next time thing will be different. I won’t wake up puking out clams in a Massachusetts Walmart (do they have Walmart?) parking lot escaping the sharks best attempt to conquer land. Instead, I’ll work a 9-5 desk job scheduling clients and keep a sea shell on me desk to remind me what could have been if I didn’t spend all my money on this delicious beer.
