Made on Honor for five generations, The Famous Narragansett Lager has been one of the greats since 1890. Pre-Prohibition era drinkers toasted 'Gansett, Dr. Suess illustrated 'Gansett, the Sox scored with 'Gansett, and Captain Quint crushed 'Gansett. Today, the highest rated, heritage American lager (according to Beer Advocate) is brewed to be clean, crisp, refreshing and perfectly balanced. "Hi Neighbor! Have a 'Gansett!"

Malty, mild cracker taste. Crisp, easy drinking. Would pair well with most foods. It's a maybe, as to whether or not, if I'd buy this one again?

Pours a light yellow color with a one finger, dense white head of foam that leaves virtually no lacing on the glass. Poor head retention.

Shaving cream. Corn flakes.

Flavor of roasted corn on the cob, cream of wheat, caramel and macintosh apples. Malty upfront but then transitions into a bittersweet, dry, slightly fruity finish. Not getting any off kilter metallic or sour flavors that can sometimes be present in other adjuncts.

For an adjunct lager - it's very lightly carbonated. Not that it's terribly flat but in comparison to other beers in the style it is relatively on the lighter side. The mouthfeel is smooth and thirst quenching with a slightly bitter, dry component to the finish.

I'd say this is very similar to PBR or Yuengling - only more dry. At my old bar, this was hands down our most popular beer on draft. In the world of adjunct lagers, this is, dare I say, "creamy" for the style but still rather dry so as not to becoming cloying like beers like miller high life or coor's banquet can be sometimes.

Lawnmower / tailgate beer for sure, but, I can see why this has a cult following, it's an endearing, tasty, easy drinking adjunct lager.

Pours clear golden yellow with 2 fingers of soapy white head. Leaves some lacing. Not a pleasant aroma, dirty water. Palate offers some malt backbone, overall refreshing

Drank so many of these in my college days because I had a buddy from RI who would always bring like 48 of these bad boys for the weekend. Cheap, nicely carbonated, and good bang for your buck. Great visual puzzles on the cap which always enhances the beer-drinking experience.

Is it a good beer? No. Is it an unfussy, drinkable beer that is both affordable and not watery swill? Yes. If I want to buy a lot of one beer for a weekend with the boys, I'd go with the 'Gansett.

12 ounce can poured into a 12 ounce glass Canned January 2024

L: tan like weak brewed iced-tea, fair amount of carbonation hence streaming bubbles
S: Grains, pine
T: Nondescript, generic beer flavor. Works for this beer though
F: Light, watery, clean, crisp
O: Not bad for the everyday beer drinker. I could easily see Homer drinking one at Moe's instead of Duff.

A true Nod to nostalgia. A Light beer, snappingly crisp. Good carbonation, not over the top. Overall, an honest simple lager that knows what it is and doesn’t try to be what it’s not.

For a German beer lover, this is pretty close to an everyday drinkable American adjunct, rare as unicorns. Pretty balanced, only minimal suspect flavor, mostly decent.

Spotted this while grabbing some Genesee cream ales and a 6pack of Old Style, swapped the Old Style for this, and I'm not impressed. Lack of flavor ad just poor in taste. Bland, not good.

12 oz bottle. Not bad for a cheap beer. The taste brings me back about 50 years when these lagers were pretty much all that was available. I'm now pretty much an IPA drinker so it's not surprising that I am rating it this way.

This is a unique yet flavorful beer. It reminds me oddly of Rheingold. It’s got a slightly metallic note with a cross between roasted Maize and bubblegum . Very interesting beer!
