For an AAL, this is a quite enjoyable beer.

Yes, the dreaded qualifier. But I stand by it, as for me there is a good time to have this type of beer, and in those times, I’d quite enjoy one of these. But is it more enjoyable than a Stone IPA or a Two Hearted in any random situation? To me, no.

So, okay...

Pours a darker golden, clear, leaning a tad towards amber. Initial head is decent, medium collar for half the pour, and a thinner one ‘til the end.

Nose is fairly bland - but I get mostly light dry grass and a slight metallic note, and maybe the slightest hint of skunk (not distracting at all).

Taste is actually a nice balance of semi-seeet malt with a neutral bitterness to open. A mostly light dry grass bitterness tugs at my palate, but there’s also a very light sweet citrus note.

The feel isn’t too light - though it is light enough as to not betray the style. Tickling carbonation refrains from prickliness and lasts well into the pour.

Pours a clear straw color with a one inch white head that dissipated fairly quickly and left little lacing. Smell is mild with sweet malts and corn present. Tastes of corn, grains, sweet malts and golden delicious apples. Slightly too sweet overall. Light bodied, highly carbonated, watery mouth feel, easy drinking beer. Nothing skunky or off putting about this beer.

Can't trash a beer that made me feel at home while I was hundreds of miles away

Fine for what it is and about what you would expect - crisp golden malt, a little cardboardy, normal adjunct flavors but nothing off putting, fine as an easy drinker

Poured from a 16 oz can into a stemmed tulip because I am classy af.

Pours a clear golden straw color with a finger of soapy white head. The head has strong retention and leaves a few spots of lacing before settling into a thin halo.

The aroma is incredibly faint and slightly metallic. Maybe some corn and grains. Not much here.

The flavor is pretty much what you come to expect from the style: Sweet corn, bready malts, and a touch of spicy hops on the finish. Not good, but certainly not unpleasant. It's a beer.

The feel is light and watery with hefty carbonation. Crisp and incredibly easy to drink.

Overall, a decent and inoffensive representation of an adjunct lager. It's cheap and easy to drink. For the style it's above average. Still not something I'd bother with again but if funds are tight this is a solid option.

I tried this at Mews Tavern in Rhode Island. It poured a clear golden with white head that did not leave much lace. The scent was faint and not much to comment on. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with bscuit present. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a decent beer.

I get the feeling that Narragansett is much more popular in the New England region than in my native New Jersey, but they were selling single cans of this at my liquor store. I decided "why not?", I like purchasing singles of stuff that I'm not familiar with. Just looking at the 16 oz. can I pretty much knew this was gonna be a standard American lager, but I was pleasantly surprised that this is a pretty decent beer.

Narragansett Lager pours a bright yellow gold/color, and a big fluffy head of foam forms and lasts for about three minutes. The initial smell wasn't at all too impressive, a bit sudsy, with some grains and musty/soapiness along with it. Adjuncts for sure. As for the mouthfeel, there is carbonation present but not really too heavy in that regard. Definitely lends to easy quaffing. Upon first sip, I would say that this beer is a bit on the sweet side. The grains are the predominant feature here. A slightly citric/floral hop presence can be found but really isn't too powerful at all. Some of the aformentioned hoppiness, grains, and some dryness feature in aftertaste. The beer ends with no alcoholic warmth.

This is pretty decent for what it is. Nothing really spectacular, but it doesn't offend at all. I could see myself drinking a few of these.
