Nice hang. Relaxed out on the deck. Pretty good selection of beers, not the best, but pretty good - almost everywhere in Nashville has a pretty good selection. For me the bonus is that it's right up the street from Edley's (and a whole bunch of other places). Decent food, and I think pretty good service (but you have to keep in mind to a certain extent you bring the service to you, so if you're nice and friendly you'll probably be treated nice and friendly). Hmmm, perhaps even more important is the crowd, they're just nice normal people without prejudice. It's easy to strike up a conversation because everyone seems to be just hanging out and relaxing. I wouldn't put it at the top of my list to visit during a trip to Nashville because there are so many other specific places like Jackalope, but I'd recommend it after you've done your list.

Found this place through Beer Advocate. On an 82 degree day in the early spring the patio was jammed and would have been worth the wait if we weren't famished. Sat inside where the vibe is really cool. As was mentioned, lots of beer signs and concert posters on the walls. Ordered a Duck Rabbit Milk Stout and it didn't disappoint. Ordered up the smoked chicken nachos as an app and these were incredible too. Draft menu was good and had some variety but lots of stuff that I can get all over the country. Only a few regional selections but maybe thats just how it is. Loved the smoked chicken so much I got the smoked chicken tacos and a few more Milk Stouts. Our server, Haley, didn't seem all that interested in us and actually appeared rude at times. I get the hipster attitude but she played it on a little thick and that was the only thing taking away from the experience. Also, the tall dude who brought our first round to the table could handle a retake of friendliness 101 class. Next time in Nashville, I will try to return and hope for a smile or two and some kind words from my server.

We had lunch here while visiting Nashville. This place is in a cute little neighborhood that reminded us a lot of places we've been to in Portland, OR. Small with a large patio, decor is rustic with stickers on walls and weird art posters. Comfortable and casual. Service was friendly but reserved. Seat yourself. I had the BLT and it was really good. Others had the pulled pork burrito which was great and the Pork Bon Mei sandwich which was ok. Veggies weren't pickled. Beer selection was a strong 3.5 but could use some improvment. Value was very reasonable. I liked this place and would return.

Best bar/restaurant we found in Nashville. The bar is located a couple of miles from downtown in the 12 South neighborhood. Not sure what goes on there but the bars and restaurants sure were packed on a Happy Hour Monday. Dining room has a bit of an overly bright cafeteria feel at this time of day.

We got two stools at the bar and with quick friendly service had a beer in hand right away. A couple dozen taps or so, almost all craft with a nice selection of local and regional brews.

Food was a big hit. Really good quesadilla was my highlight along with a tasty pita dip. Food was well paced and delivered quickly.

All in all a very enjoyable experience. Wish it was closer to downtown but I am sure the regulars don't.

After much research and talking with fellow BA's and friends alike, I decided this was the place for lunch during a brief getaway for my wife and I in Nashville.

We arrived just after 1:00 p.m. on a Saturday and were pleasantly greeted with a quick "Sit Wherever You Like" as one of the waitstaff busily hurried along.

There were no seats at the bar, but we were able to find a nice little table just outside the kitchen.

At first, I was a little disappointed in the tap list, but I did find several interesting items that I had not had before. Local brews were represented by Yazoo, Jack-a-Lope, Blackstone's and Jubilee and regional offerings were also fairly well represented.

I started with a Good People IPA, which paired extremely well with my Habo-Dilla special.

The Habo-Dilla is 12 South's version of a quesadilla featuring smoked chicken, goat cheese, mushroom, onions, and their house made habanero bbq sauce. My mouth is watering as I type and re-live this awesome dish. Yes, folks...it's that good.

My less adventurous wife tried the Cobb Salad with Grilled Chicken and was also very pleased with her selection.

I finished off with a Lagunitas Cappucino Stout which was just what the doctor ordered before I was dragged off to the Green Hills Mall for the remainder of the afternoon.

The beers were served in the proper glassware and at the proper temperature for maximum enjoyment.

Service was excellent. It was a Saturday afternoon and fairly busy. But our server, Jason, took the time to not only tell us about the beer and food offerings, but also gave us some great local places to check out, including a vintage record store and Katy K's Ranch Dressing.

The 12 South Neighborhood has a lot of cool things going on, so I highly recommend you not only check out 12 South Taproom, but some of the other local color while in the area.

We will be making a stop at 12 South a regular thing whenever we visit Nashville in the future.

The greatest beer bar in Nashville to try out a plethora of brews. From special release cask beers, to local breweries, 12 South Taproom will have it. Also, this is a great place to watch the World Cup for those soccer fans out there. There are only a few other places in town that have as large of a selection, but they allow smoking which is always a turn off for me and my friends. Try to sit at the bar if possible, you never know when there may be a sampling of a special beer floating around. And with a great patio and no fried food, this is a primo destination in the summer.

Wow what a great place. Traveling from Cincinnati to Nashville and found this great place On BA.

Everywhere in Nashville seems to be hippy hipsters and this place is no differentent. Lots of skinny jeans and owl rim glasses. Super laid back with nice decorating with retro concert posters, beer labels, and brewery swag. Cool bar with folk art stools.

The quality of beer is killer and is the best thing about this place. Also the food leaves a little to be desired

Service is great , our waiter was always asking if we needed something. Food and drinks arrived within 5 or 10 minutes. Also quick to offer an out of Towner suggestions of what to try from the local Nashville beer scene

Selection is really freaking great. While I was there I bad victory Yakima glory, fort Collins brewing incredible hop, and brooklyn brewery's special release mary's maple porter. Lots of other great brews that I wish I could have tried.

Food really was a dissapoitment. I got the pulled pork tacos and they were dry and the tortillas were dry and thick. My girlfriend got the jalepeno patty melt which she said was too sloppy. This place had lots of options so sine may actually be good but ours were not too good

12 south is a great value. Great, tasty, limited craft draft beers for only 5-7 dollars. Food is well priced but under tasty. Overall got. Beer bar a great value.
Such a unique fun atmosphere with great beers cancels out the below average food

12 South is a beer oasis in the desert that is Nashville. Their tap wall consistently surprises me with new and exciting brews, yet they're very nonchalant about the rare stuff they bring in. The bartenders all seem to know what they're talking about (within reason) and the service ranges from good to great. The food has been top notch every time I've visited and their prices are fairly reasonable across the board. Overall, I can't really find many flaws with 12 South other than the fact that it's so good that it's usually crowded, but I guess that means they're doing something right. A good bar to check out if you don't like the atmosphere at the Saucer.

This place is dynamite.

Live funky blues music, great Mexican food, about 100 beers I cannot get back home in Chicago and a very knowledgeable bartender all combined to make the 12 South Taproom a great place. I have to believe that this is one of the best beer bars in Nashville, and in fact, a sign on the wall that reads "Probably the best bar in Nashville" seems to agree with me.

For what was otherwise a slow, cold and snowy Thursday night in Nashville, the Taproom was full, not crowded, but tables were tough to come by and my girlfriend and I had to wait ten minutes or so in order to snag two seats at the bar.

The tap selection was excellent, not every slot was being utilized, but it looked as though there were roughly 25 or so with a seven-foot tall, three-door, glass cooler behind the bar that housed a very large bottle selection.

Our bartender (I believe his name was Sweeney) knew his stuff and treated us like regulars even though we had never set foot in the place before.

As for the selection, I was very happy to find a nice mix of some Southeastern U.S. beers like Sweetwater 420, Highland Gaelic Ale and most of the main Yazoo line-up on tap. I was even more thrilled to find Oskar Blues on tap and in the can. Had my first Gordon Blues (yep, not G'Knight yet) and just my second Gubna ever. Other offerings included beers from Avery, Left Hand, Schlafly and Stoudt.

The food was solid. We had a very good steak burrito, some spicy and delicious green beans and the herbed chicken wings, which were a nice and unique offering in that department. It was tasty.

My hope is that I can get back to the 12 South Taproom before we leave Sunday evening, at least one more time. It was a pleasant experience and a lot of fun.

I moved to Nashville from Atlanta and spend most beer nights at the Brickstore Pub, while 12 South does not have the Belgian bar area it still is great. Hands down 12 South is the best beer bar in Nashville as of current. Their staff is knowledgeable about the beers they offer and always make sure you don't have an empty pint. They take great care in their tap list and do a great job at bringing unique kegs to Nashville. They also do casks every other Friday night I believe and that is always a good time. Beer aside the food is awesome and really elevates them as a beer bar; good beer and good food go hand in hand!

If your in Nashville on vacation or live in Nashville and never gone, get off your couch and go.

Stopped here on a recent trip to Nashville...found it here on BA.

Not too far from the main drag, 12 South is a great place to grab a good pint.

Walking in, the first thing I noticed was the decor. Wall adorned with concert posters and beer labels and stickers, some quiet little nooks with intimate lighting, and a really cool bar made of some sweet looking woodwork. We took a seat at the bar on the coolest barstools I've ever seen--wrought iron base with thick wood seats...heavy, and very unique. Out front of the establishment was a good-sized patio, but it was much too warm this day to sit in the sun.

Behind the bar was a nice long line of taps, including some local brews, national micros, and some macros, as well. I had the Terrapin Rye Ale and a Schlafly IPA (at our bartender's suggestion). They also had a decent selection of bottles and cans in the cooler.

Our bartender was very helpful, and seemed to be quite knowledgeable about the beers that were on tap.

We also tried the chips and salsa (the only food we had there, though the menu looked pretty good). The chips were out of a bag, but the salsa was made fresh in-house and was quite good.

Overall, I'm glad we found this place. Good beers on tap, good service, and great atmosphere.

In the 12th South neighborhood, right next door to Mafiaozas. We were on the outdoor patio on a Friday evening. Good crowd, but certainly not packed to the gills. Service was somewhat spotty and we never had a real good idea of who are waiter actually was.

Beer list is rather impressive, especially by Nashville standards. Lots of newer releases to the area including Gubna. Excellent mix of import and domestic craft. They also have special beer events every now and again. One of the most "beer-centric" spots in Nashville, though that isnt really saying much.
