Breck IPABreck IPA
Notes: Finding the right balance of aroma, hoppiness, and fullness of flavor is a mountain worth climbing. That’s what we’ve done with Breck IPA. Scrutiny of ingredients and experimentation with process resulted in this yin and yang – distinctively pleasant floral aroma with crisp hop flavor that’s mellowed by Full Pint malt, a relatively new and unique malt variety. Drink up. Breck IPA is available all year long!

A run of the mill IPA from a run of the mill brewery. Standard flavors all the way around, which is great if you are looking for a good regular beer, but nothing special if you want something different. Pretty average.

On tap aboard United Airlines. Pours a golden, effervescent hue with moderate frothing. Mellow aroma replete with hints of citrus and grapefruit. Similar overall flavor profile.

Massive head on this one. Bit of a musty smell. Nice foggy copper pour. Really good IPA flavor. Hoppy and juicy, with a good malty balance. May have rated this higher if it wasn’t for the excessive carbonation. Maybe it was just my bottle.

16oz draft pour into a bulbous pint glass shows a murky yellow-straw body capped by a persistent 1/8in white small-bubbled head and leaving webbed lacing.

Aroma is baby food apricot. I can't get past it. With a little agitation, the carbonation brightens up the apricot a bit, however it dulls right back.

Flavor is apricot forward, with pint resin back and a cracker malt.

Mouthfeel is fuller-medium, almost chewy, with a wet finish.

Overall, this is not it, unless you like bubbly baby food.

A malty IPA that is meh.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass

L: Mostly clear medium golden pour. 2 fingers of foamy white head. Solid lacing. Bits of tiny sediment floating throughout.

S: Malty... bread and pine. Notes of citrus.

T/F: A fair amount of malt sweetness and caramel dominates the flavor. There is some hop bitterness... notes of pine and citrus... earthy and floral. Smooth... crisp carbonation. Finish is grains and citrus with some lingering bitterness.

O: Not bad... a malt forward IPA that is still very drinkable and enjoyable. Not a superstar beer but I wouldn't turn down another.

Look: Decent 2 finger head from a 12 oz bottle. Head dissipated very quickly. Some lacing continued on, but not very impressive. Cloudy and yellowish brown.

Smell: Malty and sweet just before the citrusy hops push through. But not very aromatic overall.

Taste: At first, there's a funky tang mixed with some fairly strong bitterness from the hops. The bitterness fades and makes room for a malty, buttery, savory, and funky tang. It gets pretty sweet during this transition. The sweetness dries out, and some bitterness comes back. When the flavors fade out, you are left with citrus/mango notes and some slightly smokey malt aftertaste.

Feel: Medium / lower. Not much carbonation. Tastes a bit oily.

Overall: Decent. Has most of the key characteristics of some of the top IPAs, but the low carbonation and funk take the score down for me. Good though!

This is a hazy, fruity, unfiltered IPA. The color is dark straw and the head is white and medium in size. The aroma is composed of fruit, floral hop scents, a bit of caramel-like malt underneath. The taste is balanced, with plenty of malt sweetness, balanced with bitterness and hop flavor. Medium-full in body, drinkable, and enjoyable.

Straightforward hops and bread malts in smell and taste. Appears with hazy gold color with minimal head and decent lacing. Not bad, just completely unremarkable.

Not a bad little IPA here, even though it checks in at 6.3%, which is a little high for a basic IPA. But this one wasn't super bitter or sticky, and you could taste some of the hops without getting overwhelmed. Still not my favorite style of beer, but this one is pretty drinkable.

Wasn't as good as the last time I had it. Doesn't seem quite as fresh actually this seems a bit oxidized. Still not a bad brew. Good body. Drinkable. Breckinridge does better brew though.

Undated bottle into pint glass. Pours a beautiful golden color with a persistent white head. Initial impression is a nice balance of hops and malt - enough hops to tell you you're drinking an IPA; enough malt to offset (to an extent) the bite. Medium mouthfeel and carbobation. Sightly bitter finish lingers. Very enjoyable - I would easily keep a few of these on hand for a hot summer evening.

Golden color with no head. Nose feint citrus and piney hops. Taste perked up version of the nose. Nothing finish. Very average IPA. I don't know if I'm getting old bottles of Breckinridge or they justs aren't my thing. Cheers to all who love them but I'm not getting that experience

Pours a cloudy golden color with a 1-2 finger width foamy head. Head retention is good. Lacing is great. No date listed on the bottle, so not sure if this is fresh or not. Judging by the aroma and taste, I would say "No". Citrus and piney aroma with an underlying rotted aroma (suspect because it is out of date). There is a mild citrus to the taste but is mainly malty. Has a strong piney hop, though. That slightly off, rotted flavor comes through at the end. I would be willing to try this again, if I knew it was fresh, but that is a problem when the brewer doesn't list a born on date or expiration date on their beer, so may never try again.

L: Pours hazy gold under a 1” off-white foam cap that dissipates moderately fast.

S: Grassy mint, some citrus, a trace of light malt that provides a subtle balancing sweetness. The hop aromas are medium and the malt aromas are medium low. Very mild alcohol flavors.

T: Starts melony citrus fruit that gives way quickly to a big citrus rind to quinine bitterness that is long and lingering. Hop flavors are medium, hop bitterness is medium high, malt flavors are low to medium low and yeast flavors are low. The fruit flavors come out more as the beer warms.

F: Medium body and carbonation, no astringency, no warming.

O: A big bitter beer that is well balanced by a complex flavor profile.

No too much going on here for my nose and palate. Average appearance and head. The nose is nondescript, kinda sweet with some hop character poking through. Low amount of fruitiness. The taste is sweet with some malt backbone, little hop character but there is a lingering bitterness in the finish that is nice. Overall, this one was a pass for me. I included it in a make a six pack but will probably never buy it again. Just another American IPA.

Very surprised. Not much head, but a very pleasant piney taste that gets better when you take a sip. This is a beer that is a better then average ipa that I would not think about buying again. Clean, there is almost no aftertaste. If you see it, try it. But remember, this will not be your favorite ipa, but its not disappointing at all.

Golden honey color with thin head. Good retention with soapy lacing that clings and lingers. Nice carbonation with aromas of pine and tropical citrus. Tastes are bright and distinct. Earthy notes of honey, pine resins, mango, orange peel and sweet bread. Very well balanced with just the right combination of sweetness and bitterness. I actually appreciated the second one more than the first. Very nice and unique IPA.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 10/22/2015. Pours lightly hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tangerine, pineapple, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, light honey, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big tangerine, pineapple, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, light caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, pineapple, mango, melon, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pine, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate amount of dryness from bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp/sticky, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice IPA. All around good balance, complexity, and robustness of citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Poured from a 12oz bottle with a best by date of 4/8/17; into a pint glass.
Appearance- gold with nice sediment and carbonation; medium, white head that leaves
Smell - pine and earthy hops a touch of sweet caramel.
Taste - pale malts with some pine and earthy hops as indicated in the nose.
Feel - malt dominant for the most part, but the bitterness from the hops ultimately overpowers the finish!
Overall - far more of an English style IPA based solely on the smell and taste profiles, in my opinion. Not bad at all, just not my preference with an IPA.

Pours a hazy, copper color. 3/4 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of citrus hops, floral hops, sweet malt, pine, hint of resin, hint of grass, and a hint of alcohol. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of piney hops, citrus hops, slight resin, sweet malt, hint of yeast, and a hint of alcohol. Overall, great appearance, aroma, and feel. Body and blend leave a little to be desired.

Pours a 24K gold with a 2 finger head of foam. Lacing is good. This is a gorgeous looking IPA.

I get a lot of hoppiness in the smell. Mostly pine but some grass and floral hops. There's an odd malty sweetness that brings balance to the nose. Decent overall smell.

The taste is piney, somewhat grassy, and despite the firm malt backbone, I find the hops come across as harsh.

Good enough mouthfeel.

Not a bad effort from the brewer but it does not tickle my fancy.

A: The beer is relatively clear yellowish amber in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that died down, leaving a lacy webbing of bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of floral hops are present in the nose along with some hints of citrus.
T: The taste follows the smell, having flavors of floral hops along with notes of cracker and caramel malts and some hints of spiciness. Graham cracker flavors begin to develop as the beer warms up. The hops contribute a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This isn't your run of the mill type of IPA and has some interesting flavors from the malts that somewhat resemble graham crackers. The taste also has a good balance between the malts and hops.
