Poured brown/chestnut with a pinky of sand colored head. Average head retention & lacing

S: A bit of breadyness

T: Nice roasty malt & nuttyness up front. As this warms: more nuts, dryness, a whisper of herbal hops. Finishes sweet, dry & nutty

MF: Medium bodied with carbonation & balance

Drank very easy, a solid brown, best beer I had there other than the 471 IPA

This beer seems underrated. It has a nice appearcne with a great head and retention.

Smell and Taste: Some caramel malt comes out with a nice nuttiness. There is also a very subtle vanilla undertone.

This beer is smooth and creamy on the palate. It goes down very smoothly.

I could make a decent session out of this beer and I'm surprised it's not rated more highly.

This was a good all-around brown ale, though quite robust for the style, almost like a porter. One of the few Breckenridge beers I've tried that I enjoyed, though it's also one of two that I've tried on-tap fresh from the source.

The beer pours to a dark brown color with caramel highlights. Has a decent collar of off-white head. Good retention and lacing.

The smell is exactly what one would expect from a robust American brown. Sweet caramel malt with some dark specialty malts that lend a very gentle roast. A light European hops aroma follows, though this one is more about the malt, as you would expect.

The taste was quite good. Followed along well from the aroma. Sweet pale malt base with some brown malt and dark crystal. Quite roasty for the style. I would almost label this as a porter if it had any more roast. The draught menu said that this beer is brewed with honey, but I don't get any of the sweet honey flavor, though you can tell from the light body and dry mouthfeel.

Easy to drink. Crisp and refreshing. I almost took a growler of this with me, but I still have two unopened growlers from Thunderhead in Kearney, NE to get through in the next day or two.

First had: on tap at Breckenridge, Blake St., Denver, CO

Not retired: sampled on tap, August, 2011.

Poured a chestnut brown with a decent off-white head that left a bit of streaky lace. Bready aroma, a bit yeasty, with some roasty malts. Taste of toast and roast, nutty, with some subdued earthy hops. Medium body, smooth, and pretty drinkable. Not bad, and I generally don't care for brown ales.

Pours a clear, dark brown color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Decent retention and poor lacing. Smells of sweet malt, hint of roasted malt, hint of oatmeal, and a hint of hop. Fits the style of an American Brown Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, slight roasted malt, slight hop, and a hint of pale malt. Overall, lacing in appearance, but good aroma, feel, and blend.

Pours a crystal clear mahogany (to the red side), topped with a one finger light tan head, leaves webs of lacing.
Nutty aroma, with light toasty malt and biscuit notes.
Nutty, herbal, floral taste, mainly malt but theres enough hops to balance it out, sweet.
Light bodied, a nice beer but a bit too thin, nothing outstanding about it.

It has a great brown/fudge color. The smell was earthy. It just tasted syrupy and flat. I've had better brown ales and beer from Breckenridge.

Not retired. Had on tap at their Blake Street Brewpub in August of 2011.

Poured a lovely dark brown color with a nice sized off-white head that offered a good amount of lacing. Sweet malts, yeast, roasty notes and a touch of vanilla were all in the nose. Smells complex and enticing. Tastes of roasty and sweet malts, a bit of nuttiness, undertone of vanilla...not much to speak of in the way of hops. Good taste, but not as good as the smell.

Medium-bodied with good carbonation. Very drinkable. I like brown ales and this was a pretty decent one overall. Would have again.

A - 1/4" white head with big beads. Retains for a short while before falling to a cap. Golden brown beer. Color of a brown bear with some copper tint towards the bottom.

S - Buttery malt and some dark fruit and chocolate.

T - Buttery malt and a bittersweet baker's chocolate. Earthy with a mild roasted malt flavor. Lightly hopped.

M - Lively carbonation over a medium bodied beer.

D - Flavorful session beer. Good body and character.
