Oatmeal StoutOatmeal Stout

Brewed by:
Breckenridge Brewery
Colorado, United States

Style: Oatmeal Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.95%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
It's a bold, smooth-bodied concoction that oozes dark-roasted coffee aromas and flavors of espresso and semi-sweet chocolate. We round out these heady pleasures with a dose of flaked oatmeal for a creamy body and a semi-dry finish. Unforgettable.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass

A- pours black with a half finger brown head. The head isn't very dense at all, and looks very fizzy. Sigh

S- slight oaty aroma, nice chocolate, slight booze. Not too shabby

T- chocolate, slight bit of oats. Yummy

M- body is thick and very creamy. Approved

O- pretty damn good oatmeal stout!

Bottle pours a dark brown, nearly black, with limited head. Mouthfeel is thinner than expected, without much of the creaminess typical of the style. However aroma and flavour both overshadow these weaknesses, so definitely a beer I would recommend and would personally purchase again.

Aroma of roasted dark malts includes a backbone of roasted coffee beans and dark chocolate. The flavour blends these elements, adding some oak tannins and a nicely dry finish that lingers for a decent length of time. Nice transition in the taste from sweet to bitter.

A - Pours a deep brown with a mocha head roughly 2 fingers in width; some nice lacing; too dark to see any activity.

S - Some mild hints of coffee and maybe a touch of hops, but otherwise not much happening here.

T - Mild taste of hops early on, but coffee and dark chocolate become present around mid-drink and stick around for the finish, leaving a bitter coffee aftertaste; a slight presence of oats near the end.

M - Medium bodied with a slight creamy texture; medium carbonation.

O - Not the best oatmeal stout I have drank, but definitely a good one; would be happy to drink more of these in the future.

This beer pours a dark brown with faint ruby tones under light. There's a thin tan head and lasting lace. The aroma is of cocoa, coffee, and a hint of wood. The flavor has oatmeal with maple syrup notes with dark chocolate, toast, and a hint of vanilla. The dark chocolate and vanilla show through more as it warms. It's mouthfeel is full and creamy with a pleasant warmth. Breckengridge Oatmeal Stout is a good brew, recommended!
