Here we go again with the nitro. I believe that nitro works with some of the more complex or better beers but that is about it. This beer might have had some complexity when it started but lost a lot with the nitro "gimmick" Aroma and tastes are muddled. I get the chocolate and orange but they are too flat and it weakens the whole beer. Clean, creamy but flat finish.

Breckenridge Nitro Chocolate Orange Stout, 6% ABV, 13 IBU. Pours thin and black with a one finger tan nitro head. Nose is malt, chocolate, and slight orange. Taste is malty and slightly sweet, some chocolate, no notable orange, slight bitter close. Good mouthfeel with the nitro. Overall very good.

A decent effort, and perhaps in a different context I might rate it higher in the future. The orange smell is wonderful when you get a whiff of it, but it's also rather powerful in the drink and tends to dominate the flavors a bit too much. I really wonder what it would be like off the tap. Ultimately, worth trying.

Breckenridge Brewery "Chocolate Orange Stout"
15.2 fl. oz. can, production coded but without freshness dating
$2 @ Weis, Conshohocken, PA

Look: Very dark brown body beneath a short head of creamy light tan.

Smell: Orange and mild dark malt. The chocolate does not particularly stand out. Both are from natural flavors according to the label.

Taste: Orange and chocolate as expected. The chocolate remains mild as it does in the nose, but the two blend together fairly well. Very mildly roasty. Mildly bitter. Completely smooth across the board with the exception of the note of orange which livens it a bit.

Feel: Light medium in body and velvety smooth.

Overall: Charming. Very mild and highly drinkable.

Pours an effervescent brown tinged ebony. Decent head retention & okay lacing

S: Some cocoa & roastyness

T: Follows the nose, a whisper of orange & dryness. Cocoa & dryness as this warms, a hint of vanilla, a little coffee. Finishes dry & creamy with a little cocoa

MF: Light/medium body with smooth carbonation

Okay, expected so much more, sad I still have 2 to drink

A thanks to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 15.2 oz. nitro can. Has a black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is bursting with oranges. Taste is oranges, light roasted malts. Feels creamy in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

Very disappointed with this one. Little or no carbonation. No head to speak of. Nice dark brown color, but that's where it stops. Very listless taste. Don't recommend this one to anyone who likes beer.

Was able to snag a single can for around 2 bucks! Into a pint glass
A - Cool looking nitro first half looked like mud but evened out to a nice dark looking stout with a foamy head.
S - Well it has some chocolate and roast and maybe just a tiny bit of sweet orange candies.
T - Very close to orange cream candies but the body is too thin and its not sweet enough for my taste. Interesting though.
M - Agree with others the nitro really made this already thin stout even thinner and watery. In fact it kind of distracts me from really enjoying the taste.

Overall its pretty decent nitro stout with some orange creme filled chocolate taste. I bet if these guys would do an imperial version of this 8-9% it would be amazing!

Get on that guys!

I truly enjoyed this on a lazy, do-nuthin' New Year's Day - 2018...

Beautifully dark, tan foam, and some decent lacing. The smell was distinctively chocolate and orange and malty - all of it working so well together in the nose. The mouthfeel was the most disappointing aspect of the brew - a tad watery on the mouth that was just even more watery with it's light-bodied aspect. Taste-wise it was light on the orange, muted on the chocolate, but it was still decent enough. Overall, this was good, definitely solid, and something I will look for in the future.

15.2oz nitro-can poured into a pint glass. Pours a very dark brown, not quite black, with a small creamy light khaki head that sticks around leaving thick retention and decent lacing. The aromas are obviously full of chocolate and orange. It smells just like an orange tootsie roll pop. The flavors basically follow the nose. The flavors are clean, mild and slightly watered down due to the nitro characteristics. It still tastes nice. Hints of milk chocolate and of all things orange. Lots of orange peel and orange zest. Some clean citrus notes in the finish. Solid malt backbone. Alcohol goes completely unnoticed. Mouthfeel is exactly what you would expect from a nitro brew. It's light and thin with no carbonation. It's very smooth and easy to drink.

This is a solid brew. They deliver on the orange and chocolate. Nice stuff.
