Very nice and unique place and the beer and food are both spectacular. Service was also stellar. I Love the full to go beer selection across the street from the beers they produce to a host of other hard to find beers from all around the world

Was in the Raleigh area for work and went to the Smokehouse to eat. Had some beers there and then went across the street to the Taproom. I ended up getting a flight there. Went and checked out the Beer Shop after. Really cool area.

Stop #438 on my world brewery tour.

Lunch on a Tuesday. Needed some music or to turn the TV's on for a bit of action. Long, narrow train station.

Had two flights and forgot to write them all down. Pils, steam, wheat, and saison. Also something with Habenero's in it but my mouth was on fire from the outstanding wings (from their smokehouse across the street) so I really can't comment.

All the beers were great. If they weren't so far away, I'd come back when in town again.

Friends brought us by the Tap House, and it is really a cool little place. It's a converted railroad house, so it's long and narrow. Across the street is a smokehouse, also owned by Aviator, so you can bring grub from there over to the Tap House. I stand by the fact that Aviator has some of the greatest label art in craft beer, and their walls are decorated with it. 12+ taps, with a guest cider tap while I was there. Lots too offer. Long, straight bar with multiple televisions to watch some sports whilst you drink the afternoon away. Plenty of outdoor seating, as well...a huge rear patio, as well as some tables along the frontage, looking down on the main street. There were a few bartenders on while we were there, but nothing really stood out about service, positive or negative. We sat on the back patio, and came in to order beer for ourselves. Very fair pricings, and there is beer to go, whether it be cans, bombers, or growlers. There seemed to be a lot of seasonal offerings, so I am very much looking forward to a return trip when the weather is a bit colder and the beers are a lot heavier.

A - Older building in a small southern "downtown" style area. Hard wood floors, older decor, mostly relating to airplanes (Aviator, duh.)

Q - Everything seemed well prepared. Beers were fresh and tasty, with their own unique character.

S - Our bartender was pretty awesome. She stayed on us regularly, making sure that our glasses were full and that the food was good.

S - Being that this is an Aviator location, the selection was limited to Aviator products, but they did a good job keeping a nice rotation of styles. I personally selected the Black Mamba Oatmeal Stout, whereas my buddy chose the Devils Tramping Grounds Tripel. They had wheats, seasonals, pales, IPAs, etc. as well.

F - Food was delicious. I got the NC barbeque pork plate, which had an awesome "smoked" flavor to it, on top of the vinegar-based NC style BBQ.

V - Pretty average for what you would expect to pay at any restaurant these days.

O - I enjoyed my experience here, and will definitely be back for more.

I went here with a friend on Thursday 12/29/11. We went around noon (because it was our day off) so there wasn't much of a crowd. The decor is beer and airplane related. It's kind of an old building so it has a distinguished feel. In the adjoining room there are games like darts and Foosball. They had 9 beer choices, three of which were previously unknown to this website. They had a limited-time only Bourbon Barrel Aged Black Mamba Oatmeal Stout which was awesome. The bartender took the time to talk with us about the beers and the brewery. He even mentioned some of the upcoming projects and releases. They have a menu and you can order food which will be brought to you from their Smokehouse Restaurant across the street.

Overall, this was a good experience. I'm glad we went when there was no crowd so we could talk beer with the bartender. I'm told that on weekends and nights it gets rather busy. Most of the beer was good, the atmosphere was perfect for a tasting room, and the staff was awesome. I recommend stopping in if you're in the area.

I finally made it down to check this place out. It's in a nice stretch of old buildings in downtown FV. The space is very wide but not very deep with a nice long bar. There are some tables out front and a deck in the back. The interior has a rustic feel with a great old wood floor that's probably seen a lot. The aviation theme gives you a lot to look at.

They had eight on tap which included an IPA, ESB, American Wheat and Tripel. They also had two cask engines but they weren't loaded.

This is a very comfortable place with a great crowd and some good beer.

Was back in the area for another visit and this time hit the Aviator Tap House. Beers selection was much more than i anticipated for a small town brewery. The beers were very solid as the other reviewer has stated.

Had a great time here. I felt like everyone was an old friend.

I drank the HotRod Red and McGritty's Scotch Ale. The scotch ale was exceptional and very true to style. The beer had a great malty backbone with some smokiness.

From what the bartenders tell me the HotRod Red and the Devil's Tramping Ground Tripel are the big sellers here. The Tripel comes in at 9.2% ABV so i'm going save that for my next trip into the area!

No food but i hear there are plans to add a kitchen.

stopped through over the holidays along the Raleigh -> Fayetteville route

located in an old train depot in what may or may not have been a dentist's or medical office at one time, as suggested by the examination chair still bolted to the floor, the place is long and rectangular with creaky old wooden floorboards, various aviation paraphernalia coats the walls, one big flatscreen behind the long bar, with a few tables and an outer porch providing seating alternatives, interesting setup and certainly comfortable

something like 7 taps at the time of my visit, went with the FrostNipper winter warmer - good stuff, shaker pints seem to be the norm

nothing particularly special nor lacking in the bar service, the beer came quickly, and a sample was provided without hesitation

Stopped into the Aviator Tap House with some friends on our way back from a brew pub tour of Fayetteville. I believe this location was once the old rail station for old Varina, which along with the antique signs and fighter-plane decor give it a very cool, retro feel. I sampled a few of their beers and settled on a pint of the Frost Nipper winter ale, while my friends went with the variety of the 4-beer samplers. Each beer seemed well-crafted, true-to-style, and even had a bit of something extra beyond what you'd expect from a small local brewer. It didn't look like they were serving any food, but it wasn't really necessary for this kind of place.

Overall, the Aviator Tap House is not just a great place to sample the solid beers being turned out by the brewery, but can also serve as a plain-old good place to hang out with friends at happy hour (did I see that there is a Wii bowling tournament on Sundays?). I really see this place as a hip hang-out among the quaint shops of the historic downtown area, and I will likely return.
