Frothy pour into a mini pint taster glass results in a sturdy head of light tan foam. Lots of lace, and lasting surface coverage. Nice dark mahogany color in the light.

Aroma is subdued, some light fruit esters of plum and dates.
Not getting much bourbon or barrel character, but it's pleasant and inoffensive.

Mellow feel, slight astringency, dry finish with a bit of woodiness. Roasted malt in the middle and a little bit of fruit ester identical to the aroma. Not much in the way of bourbon at all. Getting some dry woodiness in the aftertaste, which is fairly complimentary. Mellow and not indicative of the 10% abv at all. Pretty drinkable, but the complexity just isn't there. A decent first attempt, but not worth a premium price... this costs more per ounce than Backwoods Bastard :S

Underrated!! Great bourbon flavor! No ABV bite. Really enjoyed this one!

Mostly got bourbon out of this, notes of vanilla, not real boozy really, just a lot of bourbon.

It's not an impressive brew to say. The bourbon taste comes through way to quick. I can't say I taste anything else because of that too. Not going to get again. If you enjoy the bourbon dominated taste with a medium bodied beer then try it.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Described as an imperial brown ale aged in oak bourbon barrels. Right on. It pours a rather brackish black-brown topped by a finger of tan foam. The nose comprises briny wood, Early Times, malty caramel (or caramel-y malt...whichever you prefer), a hint of butter, a touch of roast, and a sprig of earthy greenery. The taste brings in more of the same, though the low-end whiskey is a scenery-chewing headliner that steals the spotlight from any hopeful comer. The musty oak plays a part as well, but it's pure second fiddle. Despite the strength, I'm left doubting the existence of an actual base beer, though a little bit of seaweed (throwing my brain back to some tasty sushi I haven't had in a little while) maintains that ever-so-slight sliver of faith. The body is a light-leaning medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a thinly fluid feel. Overall, this beer has too much barrel, not enough beer, and not enough body to work. Even worse, the barrel isn't even a good one. This is quite the miss, here...

Pours a clear, brown color. One inch head of a tan color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of hops, hint of nut, sweet malt, slight earthy malt, slight caramel malt, and a hint of roasted malt. Fits the style of An American Brown Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, slight nut, hint of pale malt, hops, slight caramel malt, and a hint of earthy malt. Overall, good appearance, body, aroma, and blend.
