Visited on a Wednesday evening. Store was dead. I wish this store was closer to downtown and easier to find (its in a shopping center, off the main road)

A - Open, bright , clean, rather industrial. Like a Total Wine, but with liquor. Not a den of craft beer, but certainly an easy quick place to shop. - 4

Q – No concerns. You can get many of the beers as singles already chilled. - 4

Sel – Fantastic selection for both domestic and foreign. Prairie Artisan – bought one of each of the four different bottles on the shelf. – 4.75

Ser – The staff wanders the isle and asked twice if I needed help. The second time I took him up on it and he had an immediate answer and took me right to the spot on the shelf. – 4.5

Food – No food, except a few take out snacks.

Value – $$

So Gabriel's is great if you know EXACTLY what you're looking for. Granted, the staff is extremely attentive and helpful, they keep the good distro in back and you have to ask SPECIFICALLY for it. It's gotten to a point where Yellow Rose is in back and you have to ask for it. The head of beer has a twitter handle @RobertSABeerGuy , but he doesn't actually post the great releases. It seems he posts the ones that either he likes or is asked to promote by corporate. Granted, they do have an exceptional selection, likely the best in town, but for the semi-whales, you have to ask for.

They have the biggest selection in San Antonio that I've seen. Staff always asks if I need help often more then once. Not the place I would go for special releases due to the popularity. But if you're looking for a wide selection this is the place to go.

The location is out of the way, but the selection is quite good. Its a generic wine warehouse type liquor store in a strip mall in San Antonio's suburban sprawl hell outskirts area. Prices seems a bit on the high side, but I don't really know what is standard for the area. Service was lacking, I don't need or expects any suggestions at a bottle shop, and didn't get any here, but the guy at the counter was a snotty ass for no reason as we were checking out. I'm not going to bash the other aspects of the place, but the staff sucks.

Conveniently located a couple of miles down the road from Freetail Brewing, Gabriel’s Superstore offers a massive amount of craft beer. This is one of those “supermarkets of liquor” that has got enough booze to flood a small town.

Beer-wise, a lot of the stock here refrigerated, which is always a plus. They have a ton of singles to build a pack, and packs and bombers from Deschutes. Stone, Squatters, Prairie, Five Stones, Adelbert’s, New Braunfels and a bunch of Texas names… plus Belgians, fifteen different New Belgium Lips of Faith and some high-gravity goodies like Brewdog Bitch Please.

All the open cases and boxes of beer on pallets on the floor make the beer section look a little haphazard (as opposed to the neatly displayed bottles of spirits). A friendly beer guy helped me out with my failed quest for Jester King El Cedro.

This would be a great joint for your everyday beer needs, but probably not for barrel-aged stuff and special releases.

I saw the BA ratings on this store and tried it out when I was in that part of town. In my experience, they have the best/widest selection of craft beer of any store in town. There were dozens to hundreds of different beers. The emphasis was on US craft brewers with lots of Texas titles and a pretty good selection of Belgian beers. There were fewer German and British labels. Prices were decent with a few specials available. Although the selection was better than other stores in town that I've been to, I'm not sure it's enough improved to warrant going a long way out of your way to check them out.

There's not a lot in the way of craft beer in San Antonio, but if you are looking for some bottles to take home with you, this is the place. The beer manager, Robert, is very knowledgeable and helpful. He has put together quite a beer selection and knows where to point ya. The place is a huge, and first impression might be that it is not a craft beer destination, but it most definitely is. Highly recommended...

Stopped in the Ganriel's while on a business road trip. Wanted to get some of the beers that don't have distro in So Cal. Was approached by one of the employees and we proceeded to talk beers for the next hour while he walked me through their stock, telling me about the ones I hadn't seen before. This store (there are several) had an pretty extensive selection of beers plus a section where you could make up your own six packs.

After talking to the employee I took him up on a couple of suggestions for a new brewery's offering (5 Stones) and made up a couple mixed sixers while I was at it.

Recommend this place highly and I'll be back when the next business trip comes up.
