Located in southwest Kansas City, this old brick building in a residentail area houses both brewery and restaurant. Nicely devided smoking and non-smoking sections for dining, with the madatory bar up front. Decor is dark woods and earth tones. Very pleasant. Service was prompt and attentive. No seasonals among the selections(I was hopng for and O-fest), but they do run a regular "cask" selection,a nd when I was there, it was their IPA. I was happy. Menu is a mix of bar grub(fish and chisp, burgers, pizza, etc.) and some nice salad selections. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Got a chacne to chat with the head brewer, "Bucky" back from his recent trip to the GABF, where he won a gold for is red ale...the name escapes me. Very cordial brewmaster. Overall, a very nice experience. They even comped me all my beers for the evening, minus the growler. This is a place you must check out if you are in the area.

Tried out a handful of tasters with some friends that love a beer they had at a beerfest and was not impressed at all. I didn't try any food, but this place should have better beer if they have been around since 1993.

Visited back in April 2013 (from notes):

I visited the establishment on a Tuesday or Wednesday night, and it happened to be raining, so the place had pretty sparse crowd, maybe a dozen people in a place that could easy seat 60+ people. I sat at the bar, which had space for 15-20 people. The one thing that caught my eye was the kettles right in the middle of the joint. It was kind of cool, but I think that it broke up the space too much. So, the place was not really that happening that night, but I had the ESB and a Stout (it was on cask, but it had too much carbonation somehow...even the bartender said that he did not know what was wrong with it, but it just didn't taste or feel right. They may have had a dozen or so beers on tap, with a nice variety of styles. I also order some food, which was ok for pub grub...nothing special, but not bad. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable about beer and since I was only one a few patron, we had a nice discussion about beer. Overall, a decent place, but if I go back, I will head here for beers before heading somewhere else for dinner.

Really enjoyable place. It was low key so that you could have nice conversation with the people at your table. Not a huge selection of beer outside of what they brew (if any from what i remember), but a very solid lineup with many style options of house beers.

I had the ESB (4.0 on my rating) and a double IPA (3.75). Both were quality brews. They had a few different options that also sounded good that i didn't have a chance to try (a raspberry wheat).

Service was excellent. Waiter was well informed of their beers and knowledgable of each style as he tried to help my wife make a decision.

The food was also pretty good. A little more expensive than standard pub food, but better options and quality as well.

Certainly worth trying if you are in the Waldo area for dinner. I will certainly go back again.

I like the atmosphere and the beer tastes good but I have noticed that their growlers have a very short shelf life. If I open the bottle the net day it seems to be very flat. Also sometimes they fill it with a tube other times they fill it just like they would a pint glass. They also have a machine that fills it depending on which type of beer you get. Sometimes they don't fill it all the way up and leave quite a bit of air in it.

The people and beer are great just try to drink it the same day you get it.

I recently attended the "Bringing Back our Favorites" beer dinner at 75th Street, to which I had never been, and it was a good time. Of course, I think it could have been a lot better, but given my company and the fact there was beer there, it turned out good.

It seems like a fun place to be, there were plenty of people there obviously enjoying themselves, even on a Tuesday night. The food was very good, although since it was a beer dinner they had brought out their best dishes. The roasted mac and cheese was awesome as well as the chocolate truffle. The sesame encrusted ahi tuna salad was also good. I could have done without the five onion soup or the fish and chips.

The beers were good as well, some of them having been retired for some time. There was an excellent witbier as well as a good hefe and double porter.

My biggest complaint was the fact that both of out tables were wobbly, and I asked three different employees to get some coasters before I finally got pissed and got them myself. You know what I found on the ground? Old coasters were some Joe like had fixed the table beforehand. Come on dude, how many times do I have to make such a simple request?

Overall a good place, but I've certainly been to a lot better.

Visited with some friends for dinner and beers.

The atmosphere seemed kind of dingy. It was a pretty dark bar. Our table wobbled too, but we fixed it with a napkin.

The beer selection was ok. They had 6-7 beers on tap, but they all seemed to be gateway beers and didn't have anything interesting or challenging to offer.

The waitress didn't make it to our table too often, but we only ran out of water once so it wasn't that big of a deal.

The food was ok. Typical bar food. I had their potatoe chips, those were the high point for me.

Decided to try this for lunch while passing through the area. There is a wide expanse of street front glass, although the place seems deeper than it is wide. The brewing system is in the middle of the building, separating the bar and dining areas. The beers that I had were solid, although nothing was exceptional. The bar area was adorned with Mug Club mugs. It seems as if they get to bring their own mug, as they all seemed to be different. I only had the Kobe burger, which was excellent. I ordered it medium rare, but came out a bit overdone. They were very apologetic and offered me a new one, but I declined since it wasn’t overdone. They did comp me a beer. The service was very attentive, and the prices reasonable. I definitely would come back.

This is the 8th craft brewery/brewpub my wife and I have visited in the past 5 days as we travel around the Midwest on our Summer vacation.

We visited here this afternoon (6/28) for lunch and a flight of their brews. The beers were enjoyable and the burgers were above average (and 1/2 price), but the bartender was unbelievably rude to us. We were both stunned and left as soon as we finished our food. We don't get to KC very often, but we will not be going back. Hoping for better luck in St. Louis.

75th Street is always disappointing for me. I go about every 2 to 3 months and it always hits me the same. I always want it to do better but it is always off the mark. I'm not a fan of any of the beers they brew. In fact I wonder if it is worth the hassle if all you produce is a mediocre brew. Food typical bar fare nothing to write home about. The service is always lacking and I always feel like I paid too much for what I received. I'll give it a try again and a few months and hope it surprises me. I guess if I had one comment it would be for a place that brews its own beer they don't have much appreciation for a good brew pub.

75th Street Brewery is a great place to hang out and have a pint or two. Perhaps more if you are traveling via the nearby trolley track trail. There is a large bar area with ample seating was well as oversize booths if you're more in the mood for relaxing at dinner. The kettles are in central view of the whole place and the huge windows provide a nice peek into the brewers' work. Beers are delicious as is the food, service is friendly (although not all the table servers are beer savvy) and the clientele are diverse and easy-going. I can always find an excuse to stop in and sip down an Aviator here.

The line blurred from where the Kansas Cities begin and end, I’m fairly sure we’ve crossed back into MO, yo. Having strangely happened upon the house where Randy thinks he grew up, I immediately offered up scenarios like “What if we rang the doorbell and a you who had never left Missouri answered?” He was not amused, but then, the thought of another him is a frightening concept. Just the sort of thing to drive you to drink but we were en route anyway...

Dead as Missouri on a Thursday an hour before midnight, but still open and that’s good enough for me. It’s a large open room, broken up by a 7 barrel brew room in the center of the space, pillared & framed, and offering views in through windows on all sides over corrugated stainless steel panels below. The beams above the brew room are lined with empty bottles all around, guest beers we’ve drank or have been in the know to not. Yep, had that one. What about? Yep, that one too. That one there? Um, yeah, no.

Something of a “C” shaped laminated wood topped bar seating 18 on stools on the back side, with a lip & piping foot rail, and a round extension of annoyance & non easy service on one end. Barback is a series of logo’d mirror back panels with booze shelved over them, between pillars holding small flatscreens. Arched wood pieced shelving above with rows of ceramic, pewter & glass mug club mugs numbered with key chain tags, and a large shelving piece atop holding trophies of win. A small board dangles listing tap selections, house & guest. We’ll set up here and beer.

3 round towers holding 6 taps a piece at different points of the bar and a hand pump dead just now. Currently 7 house & 5 guest taps up. I sampled everything they do, served from lightest to darkest (Royal Raspberry Wheat, hazy, not sickeningly cloying; Saxy Golden, some decent hop bitterness; Alt Shulte, a good Alt, malty goes hoppy; Fountain City Amber, an Irish Red also in the malty, sweetish; Good Hope IPA, nice hoppiness for a kid brother to the; Summit IPA, bigger IPA, done with Summit, spicy, hoppier, better; Aviator Oatmeal Stout, creamy, oaty, with a little licorice goin’ on. The Ault Shulte & Summit IPA were the best of ‘em. Didn’t feel the need to hit the guest taps (Bear Republic Racer 5, Bells Best Brown, Piraat, Bitburger, Warsteiner Dunkel), although a Bells Best Brown wouldn’t have sucked.

Up front, a mug lined mezzanine holding a handful of tables, over a dozen and a half raised & baby roundies below, extending from the bar counter seating in the front windows out towards the center brew room. 20 booths two tiered on the far side below large logo house beer labels painted on the wall, just shy of a dozen tables penned to the rear, and just as many booths & hightops down past the bar. Up the ramp to a small side room, orange painted walls with an 8 seat “L” bar and garage doors on the far side to the roofless (technically) outside space, their urban beer garden. 8 round tables and a space heater, with hops lining the brick walls and open trellis above.

Adobe ceramic tilings, and framed rafters with spinny fans go round. Drop flowering lanterns trace the bar & some seating, mounted lamps walled similarly. Beige walls decorated with old brewerania (Hamm, Falstaff), and fantastic vintage Whitbred pieces, GABF & World Beer Cup awards and framed press pages, too. Nice “Firewall Good” piece, referencing the fire of ’07 that nearly, well, I don’t even want to think about what could have happened to beer. On the back side, they’ve got large size beer label & logo paintings (Orval, Westvleteren, Bells Hell Hath No Fury, Cantillon Gueuze, 3 Floyds Alpha King, Flying Dog Gonzo), done real well. Otherwise, the place was done up with an Autumny harvest décor just then.

All in all, not too bad. The house beers were good, or at least there wasn’t anything bad there, and they had some solid guest taps. Comfortable enough at this hour getting on closing time, I will say that the 80’s soundtrack is pretty fuckin’ good. So this is Kansas City. Kind of wonder if the “Hippies use side door. No exceptions” sign is just for laughs.

When you think 'Brewpub' think of 75th Street. It's nothing fancy, with a dark pub-like atmosphere with a large non-bar area to accompany a 40 seat bar.

In the middle is a tiny little brewery enclosed in glass, but there is never any action in the brewery portion. Typical for a brew pub, but still boring and not particularly attractive.

The food and service are pretty standard casual dining fare with no real highlights or clunkers on the menu. I've had a lot of the dishes, but the only thing I've had that was memorable was the fish and chips. Those were pretty tasty; everything else on the menu is forgettable and a touch more expensive than it needs to be.

The restaurant service is the same. 20 and 30 year olds who are pretty much looking forward to their shift ending. They're just attentive enough to earn a tip, but they don't go out of their way to make the visit special. It's frequent that the company rewards system is broken and you can't get points for your visit.

The bar service is usually better and faster with reasonably well-educated bartenders.

Beer selection is rather limited. They usually have 5 or 6 house beers of the usual styles (rasp. wheat, dry stout, pale ale etc) and occasionally they'll have a special seasonal and/or a guest beer on tap. The seasonal selections are usually worth tasting, but rarely are they a treat. Beers are served at a temperature that I like, but most visitors consider to be 'warm'. That's the most redeeming quality about 75th.

Lately, they have begun bottling some of their limited release beers, but they run north of $20 for a 750ml bottle. I've heard good things about these releases, but have yet to try one for myself.

Overall, 75th is an adequate brewpub and I'll never refuse to go, but I also never suggest it. Waldo Pizza is less than a block away and has a significantly better beer selection.
