A bottle left over after GABF judging and given to me as a reward for my volunteer efforts. A shandy is a beer mixed with lemonade. Pours a three finger fluffy off-white head over a cloudy light straw-colored liquid. Smells earthy, lemonade powder, ginger, and mild coriander.

Tastes of wheat, lemonade, earthy ginger, and mildly of coriander. Nice balance between the malt and lemonade, as a shandy is often a pucker bomb that leans too heavily on the lemon. The ginger adds a lightening crispness. Light in the mouth with strong carbonation. Fine for what it is, though not a drink I would order in a pub.

served on-tap @ McCoy's Public House, Kansas City, MO.

Look, this is an average beer across the board. It is pretty delicious, though. See, it's more of a beer cocktail than a straight-up beer. It's brewed with a lot of ginger and there's some lemonade blended into it. It tastes really good to me, but it's not the most honest of beers. The golden yellow color is pretty average across the beer spectrum. You do pick up on aromas of heavy ginger, cinnamon toast, and Arnold Palmer (the lemonade/sweet tea blend, not the actual golfer). The taste follows the nose: the bright lemony notes are able to cut through the graham cracker & ginger base flavor. It's got lively carbonation, and is very refreshing. Its low ABV of 4.5% works great for a lot of reasons. I sobered up on this beer after a night of insane beer tasting. I'd happily drink this beer again.

A - Poured a cloudy/hazy, pale yellow color with a small, white head of foam. It had okay retention and left little lacing.

S - It smelled of ginger, lemon, pale malt and some yeast.

T- The ginger overpowered any other flavors. The lemon and caramel maltiness was muted compared to the ginger.

M - It was very crisp, sharp and smooth. A light bodied ale with a somewhat dry finish.

O - This is just too strong with ginger flavor. I would skip this one.

Pours a cloudy, maize color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of strong citrus (lemon), slight yeast, strong ginger, and slight pale malt. Fits the style of a Herbed / Spiced Beer. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with a high carbonation level. Tastes of strong lemon, strong ginger, slight yeast, slight sweet malt, and slight hop. Overall, a good beer, with good spice addition.
