Poured on tap into a snifter.

Appearance: Clear, dark copper with a beautiful red hue. Nice bubbly head.

Smell: Dark fruits, sweet and complex from the abundance of malts.

Taste: Follows the nose with a kick; we're talking tons of dark fruits (plum, raisin, cherries) and a ton of brown sugar sweetness making this an insanely drinkable quadrupel that you actually don't want to sip...you want to guzzle. It would probably be even better if you could age it a year or two. A slight tartness that I've not quite encountered from a quadrupel before...gives it a bit of a Los Angeles / West Coast flair. Delicious

Mouthfeel: Smooth, medium-to-full bodied. Makes this an easy to drink beer.

Overall: Paired extremely well with delicious pulled pork sliders.

On tap at Local Habit in San Diego. Red coppery color in the tulip, with a modest foam. slightly spritzy on the tongue. Fruity and flowery aroma. But so sweet, it' like some kind of fruit juice with a shot of vodka and a dose of hops. Cherry juice, apple sauce, boysenberry pancake syrup, and some bitterness to finish.

On the plus side, this is more flavorful with the Belgian yeast than most quads I've encountered. I don't know why the yeast doesn't give this brew more of a dry finish. It's just too sweet and bitterish at the same time. A disconcerting experience, but at least I'm intrigued by this brewery after tasting one strange beer.

On tap at Slater's 50/50 in Pasadena, CA.

Pours a hazy dark orange with a foamy tan head that settles to a film on top of the beer. A foamy curtain of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, brown sugar, dark fruits, and spices. Taste is much the same with fruity and yeast flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but it's quite sugary and sweet.
