Brewed by:
Morgantown Brewing Company
West Virginia, United States

Style: German Pilsener

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.70%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our lightest beer on the spectrum, this clean, refreshing North German Pilsner is light in body and effervescent with European noble hops (Saaz). Finishing dry, this beer showcases a single flavor profile. Like many lagers very straight forward with no complex ale flavors.

On-tap at the Morgantown brewpub, poured into a nonic pint glass.

A- Pours a clear golden straw color, thin white head, some lacing.

S- Noble hop aroma, some grainy malt, also some interesting herbal notes.

T- Nice standard pilsner flavor of noble hops and light pale malt, also has an interesting herbal and slightly metallic flavor to it.

M- Light-bodied, smooth crisp feel.

O- A pretty nice pilsner, I'd never had anything from Morgantown before but I'm impressed.

On tap at the brewpub.

The beer pours a solid gold color with fairly good head retention and light lacing. Don't get a whole lot on the nose, but what I do detect is nice enough.... some light honey and cookie dought, with maybe a hint of pepper. The flavor profile replcates the nose pretty closely, though there's some nice bitterness on the finish that I appreciate. This really a pretty light pilsner, something that was very apparent after attending the German beer festival at Max's the preceding day. Mouthfeel was fairly light, but I appreciated the clean, crisp bitter finish. Alcohol is completely undetectable, and this beer is quite sessionable.

Nothing extraordinary here, but this is a pleasant effort from Morgantown Brewing. Just not sure why I would ever get this as opposed to any of the excellent bottled options I can get that are actually made in Germany.

Pours an excellent bright golden color, with just a tiny bit of head and no lacing. Very nice scent, crisp and clean, with a wonderful sweetness and slight peppery citrus in the nose. Very nice taste, a crisp and clean malt start with an interesting hop finish -- I got a bit of citrus (as if from American hops) and a very nice peppery spice (German noble hops?), which went very well together; the sweet and slight-bitter merged great. A very easy beer to drink. I would recommend this to a macro drinker to turn them into a craft beer drinker, but it's an excellent pils for those who are already a part of the craft beer party.

Cloudy yellow color with light head. Smells like rosemary and other cooking herbs. Medium to light bodied. Taste is wild, funky herbal flavor with low hop flavor but high (but balanced) bitterness from the herbal rosemary taste. Has yarrow, wild rosemary (apparently excluding poisonous terpenes because we're not dead), and mugwort in it. Could be a delicious Thanksgiving beer to go with your turkey.

Fairly light straw color with a nice white head that fades quickly to a veil of sticky lace.
Grainy malts, noble hop presence is unmistakably in the nose.
Clean and refreshing.Pilsen malts.
Nice snap of noble hoppiness.
Like it, like it and like it.
