This is a really good beer. I've seen reviews saying that it's too bitter. To me, it has the bitterness I expect from an IPA. IPAs shouldn't be sweet or too malty. This beer hits right where it should.

Darn it. But I think I've accidentally found a beer that trumps..er, rather...beats my favorite, Bell's Brewery Two Hearted Ale. I don't know whether to be sad or happy. I guess I'll go with happy. It just tastes SO GOOD. It's like a party in my mouth. I'll still keep Two Hearted as my regular beer and Diabolical will be my treat time beer since Two Hearted is so readily available.

I had this beer on-tap in a tumbler at the Jolly Pumpkin taphouse at the Detroit airport.
Appearance: medium golden hue with a clear body and a thin layer of eggshell foam atop. Seems legit.
Smell: malty and a little toasty with a little hop character. Old fashioned but not bad.
Taste: toasty malt, as in the aroma. Hops are earthy and bitterness is pretty high. Not too bad.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a moderate carbonation and creaminess. Reasonable for the style.
Overall: a perfectly decent IPA, if not exceptional in any way.

Unknown vintage; drank 8/1/15 @ the Family Compound.
See-through orange appearance.
Huge white head; frothy lace.
Orange citrus & caramel notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Caramel & burnt hop flavors up front; a bitingly bitter finish.
This tastes like a bitter American barleywine, which is to say: never again.
