I was surprised to see this one. I’ve certainly had Chimay red and blue, however, first time I’ve ever seen this one. Is it new? Is it rare? I just had to have it!
Pours a cloudy golden color with visible carbonation. A large white bubbly head leaves a creamy bed of film and scattered lacing. Nice looking brew.
The nose somewhat belies the pale malt in that in many ways they remind me of a dark beer. For example, there are dark fruit aromas such as raisin, prune and plum. There is also stone fruit, spice, cloves, and a cake like malt sweetness. A slightly lemony citrus zest rounds things off. A nice bouquet.
The taste is peppery, crisp and comprised of a dry palate overall. There is a clean mineral/seltzer water like finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied but with a seemingly thin malt texture and spritzy carbonation. However, as it warms, more flavors emerge. For example, the malt opens up and yields a bready and cracker malt texture. Fruity eaters yield a slightly lemony tartness and citrus peel. In addition to the spicy phenols, there is a modest grassy hops kick and mild bitterness.
I’d be tempted to say that with less alcohol strength and complexity, this one is inferior to the other Chimay classics. However, for what it is, which is a drinkable and subtly flavorful Belgian Pale Ale, it is actually quite good.

Pours a cloudy gold with thick head and never ending lacing. Nose is very delicate, soft fruit, citrus, floral and minor spice. The taste blew me away, very mellow fruit flavor with some solid bread feel, spices, honey, and lemon. This is one of the smoothest beers I had in awhile, just refreshing from start to stop, I am really impressed with this one and I, will drink many more.

Medium body, lively and soft carbonation. Finishes creamy and spicy.

Picked up a single from the Craft Beer Hop Stop 7.8.17 for 99 cents.

Beer poured a cloudy orange with a long lasting white head that is leaving lacing behind.

Nose is citrus forward.

Taste is citrus and pear with a touch of cloves.

Mouthfeel is light bodied and very smooth.

Overall this brew was a nice surprise! Glad I tried it!

This is a superb beer and a very flavorful one too especially given the low ABV. It pour a light shade of golden with a huge head. Thea aroma is sweet and spicy with notes of vanilla and sugar. The taste is sweet, spicy, with anise notes and some candi sugar. Delicious.

11.2 oz. Bottle

Poured into a tulip a pretty nice cloudy dark yellowish color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice quick/thick/creamy one-finger off-white head, which leaves a nice medium size island and some sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, yeasty, kinda wheaty/banana, slight licorice, spices, coriander. The taste is pretty nice, malty, yeasty, with some banana/wheat thing going on, slight licorice/spice, nice touch of coriander. Medium body, ABV hidden very well. Overall, a pretty tasty brew.

Looks like homemade lemonade with lovely bright white head about two fingers tall.

Flavors are lemon and coriander and sweet malts. Carbonation is medium heavy and quite filling.

Pretty good.

Hazy yellow citrusy. Tall white head of Belgian style foam. Soft lemon and spice. Herbal hop smells earthy and green. Reminds me of gruit beer. Invigorating and fragrant but soft spoken. Drinks like crackers and spice. Crisp, mellow and resounds with a little twinge form herbal bitterness. It's like suckin' on a piece a grass under a tree as you walk .

Look: Hazy bright golden color with a generous white head. Splotchy laces on the glass throughout.
Aroma: pepper, cloves, allspice, nutmeg, dough
Taste: floral at first, mixing with the spices listed above. A subtle bitterness at the end, along with a crackery malt presence.
Feel: very light on the palate. High carbonation appropriate for the style. Dry finish.
Overall: enjoyable for an easy-drinking Belgian pale.

Like a golden grapefruit, it sits in the snifter with a creamy cap of 1 finger. Delicate skirted lacing left behind.

Aroma of cored apples, pepper, clove, yeast, pears with black pepper on them.

Flavor is a fruity burst equally mixed with peppery clove. Pear, apple, banana, cream, with a polite hop bite. Some woody notes towards the finish.

Feel is extremely carbonated, but may be due to shelf life. Nice clove-y, dry finish.

Overall, this is a pretty good beer. I'd have it again.
