Notes / Commercial Description:
From the brewery: This special edition is a full bodied and distinctive strong beer developed within the abbey to celebrate and honour the 150th anniversary of the brewery. Produced with 100% natural ingredients, its pale golden robe and champagne sparkle is topped by a rich white head of foam. The distinctive bouquet evokes the rich fruity and complex notes of the Chimay yeast in harmony with a delicate spicy note and the fragrance of fresh noble hops. At 10% alcohol, the flavour is full bodied and complex with a slight but refreshing tang note and a crisp hop finish that will delight the palate.

I have been looking for this anniversary tripel. Finally found it in a store in Wichita. Shipped it back home in my luggage.

Poured into a tulip.

They say tripels are notorious for hiding their ABV – not this one. You will not be caught by surprise. Well balanced malt flavors with hoppiness. Not bitter. Every once and awhile the alcohol breaks through in a negative way. Too old or too young?

A – Poured cloudy pale orange but crystal clear when it was warm on the shelf. Definitely fridge haze. Big fluffy white two-finger head, slightly rocky. Fantastic Belgian Lace.

S – Yeasty, some citrus and spice. Minor alcohol with a bit of solventy heat (-).

T – Peppery, medium maltiness, slight citrus, too much alcohol (-)

MF – Crisp, well carbonated, medium-light body, dry finish.
