A: palid gold color with a nice 2 finger white head, creamy and consistent, it lasts enough, abundant carbonatation

S: fruity and honey smell, some buiscuit notes appear

T: wow, it is refreshing and very neutral on flavour, in fact the sweet notes i was expecting to find were not as marked as tought, as the zip pass trough the tongue you feel a nice fresh sensation, ending with a very tiny bitterness that invites you to keep drinking.

A nice german pilsner and i am not fan of this sytle

Appearance: Pours a very clear yellow gold color with a small 1/8" head of mostly small bubbles that was gone practically by the time I got done pouring. There was a few foam islands on top of the beer, but I can't even see any bubbles rising to maintain the head at all. The beer is really still after the pour. There is a little bit of lace left on the glass after drinking the beer.

Aroma: The aroma is clean. Very clean and rather unremarkable. There is some sweet malt in there that has no aroma of adjuncts or anything, so it smells true, just clean... I can pick up a little hops in there as the beer warms up some, but they are really reserved for this style.

Taste: The flavor is also clean, but has more toasty malts and some mild honey-like sweetness in there as the predominant parts of the flavor. The flavor is really mild to be able to pick up the characteristics like I am. The mouthfeel is quite full for such a light beer, and this is probably because of the very light carbonation. The finish has a little bit of bitterness to it, but it is dominated by the sweetness and toasty notes. There is a little honey to linger on the back of the throat after the sip, but that is about it for the finish. There is no alcohol there or anything.

Opinion: This beer comes across much more as a Helles than a Pilsener. It is pretty decent, IMO, but I like beers more malty than hoppy. If I remember right, it was about $6 for the six-pack, which isn't bad at all. For the price, it is worthy, but I would be hard-pressed to hold it up against any other Pilsners or Helles for that matter. It's not swill, so if you are looking for something cheap to drink for the evening, a couple six's of this would do the trick.

Appearance was nice poured a nice head

Smell was awful!! Skunky and Sweet- Same with the taste felt like I was drinking an old Millwaukee!!

I will not recommend this beer to anyone!

A- Crisp, clear gold. Bright white head fades to about a half a cap.
S- A little skunky.
T- No skunk taste like the smell. Fairly sweet with only a small hop presence.
MD- A decent feel. Goes down very easy. I just expected a little more flavor from a Pilsener form Germany.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a clear, light yellow color with a white head. The aroma is not good at all. As can be expected from green-bottled pilseners, this beer is skunked.

The flavor is actually better. I don't get much, if any skunk in the flavor. What I do get is some corn and grain notes. Even though it is not skunked, the flavor is not very good.

Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Clear, golden with thin off-white cap. Grassy, hay and mild noble hop notes. Typical German Pils fare, soft and sweet dough and cracker flavors with mild noble hop bittering. This beer could be good with more concentration of flavor. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Easy drinking but nothing special here, at least it wasn't skunky from the green bottle.

A: Bought this in a mix-n-match pack at my local beer cave. Poured into 16 oz. Weizen glass, only produced about a fingers width of head, nice lacing.

S: Can't say I really smelled anything, no skunk either

T: Very mild malt flavor, hint of grasses and apple. I can't say I experienced any of the skunkiness others observed.

M: Very light, waterey with slight carbonation.

D: Very easy going pilsner...the kind I could drink all day.

A: Bright, clear golden color. Poured a 2 finger rocky white head with good retention to a half finger skim. Lightly decanted. Laced in even rings.

S: Mild pilsener malt. Hay and grass. A little green apple.

T: Mild pilsener malt; crackers. A little green apple and mineral flavor. Grassy in the finish.

M: Light body. Ample carbonation. Crisp finish with some lingering sweetness in the bitter.

D: Easily drinkable and sessionable.

A: Pale maize pour in the glass with a sparkling clarity reveals a medium effervesce. The head is off white, about a finger in height, foamy and frumpy, but fails to stick and lace lacking visual appeal.

S: Some skunkiness upon first uncapping. Dry pilsner grains and dried corn kennels. Some faint barley grains and dried noble flowers are vague and leave little incentive leading into the flavor.

T: The flavor faired much better then anticipated considering the green packaging and slight skunky nature upon first open. Grainy and sweet with some green flowery hops redeem this somewhat with a decent balance in the end. Fairly clean overall, no off flavors like first experienced on the nose while a nice dry graininess can be had in the way of a soft lingering fade.

M: The mouthful is light bodied, very slick texture wise and softly carbonated.

D: Drank much better then expected. Wouldn't rush out for a six pack but this certainly wasn't to hard to put down and was a fair rate of consumption overall.

Pours a light gold in color, with a large white head.
Smells like some serious German Pilsner hops, with that classic metallic smell that6 accompanies most of the Hofbrau beers.
Taste is great! Very refreshing and light, but with enough malt sweetness that it is separated from most other German Pilsners.
A great beer, with great carbonation.

Green bottle poured into a Pils glass.

Skunked hops and yeast-derived sulphur jump out first. As it warms, a complex and bready maltiness comes through. Hops are surprisingly punchy, and if not for the skunkiness would provide a pleasant, gassy flavor. Mild apple skin esters add interest.

Another green bottle victim. This would be pretty good if packaged properly and would be worlds better fresh from the tap close to the brewery. Too bad this one has taken such a hit from a completely avoidable problem.

Presentation: Poured into a flute glass from a bottle with no date or ABV.

A: Clear, dark gold color with a nice fluffy white head and moderate lacing.

S: Malty, peppery. Mild hops and yeasty bready scents.

T&M: Smooth with little to no bitterness. Well-balanced pilsener. Some tangy spiciness throughout with a peppery finish.

Not my style of beer, but very drinkable. If you like pilseners you gotta give it a try. Surprisingly good!

Poured from 12oz green bottle into a clear glass tumbler. No freshness date. Consumed with pork tenderloin at Maya (Charlottesville, VA).

A: Honey-golden with short, white 1-2 finger head with decent retention but a minimum of lacing.

S: Simple pale malt aromas, Saaz or any noble hops are barely apparent, mostly skunkiness dominates

T: Weak flavor overall with cereal grains, skunk, and soft herbal hoppiness. Below mid-range for the style in depth and quality of flavor.

M: Pedestrian light body with soft mineral aftertaste. Missed on the note of crispness due to undercarbonation.

D: A dud unfortunately but at least flavor is absent enough that it didn't ruin my entree.

Still in the case when I bought these Wolters biers, so I hope the green bottle effect doesn't kill this experience. This is mass produced German beer, pours a fizzy yellow strar color with a bright white head, speckled lacing. Aroma stale cereal malts with mineral water tones with a touch of honey, hops are really faint in the nose. Flavor a bit of stale cardboard offness, semi sweet cereal grains, faint hop watery approach. This is a pale comparison of a good German pils. Mouthfeel is watery carbonation is a bit much, pretty offensive. Drinkability overall is poor, I won't be back for this one anytime soon.

11.2oz green glass pry-top bottle. No freshness date.

Pours an orange yellow with thin white head. Nose is skunk-y with a little orange and honey. Palate is crisp and clean. Orange marmalade and skunk/herbal hops. Clean finish.

Simple yet tasty. Could drink a 6er of this.

A: Crystal clear yellow color with a little bit of deeper golden highlights. Poured with a little bit of white head that quickly went away.

S: Typical pilsner smell. Little bit of apples. Little grain. Tight nose.

T: Taste is right where it should be. Not much of that funk with imported examples of the style. Maybe I got lucky on a fresh bottle.

M: Best part of this beer. Super dry and even a little bit creamy. Little undercarbonated for the style.

D: Easy drinking. One of the better imported pilsners that I have had recently.

I picked this up at Al's of Hampden -poured chilled from the 11.2oz into a 1/2 pint chilled.

A - A golden color with transparent clarity -good looking pils with rocky snow white cap and tight bead. The rettention is good and lacing is avg.

S - The smell is good while not full of hops, it still has a slight yeast and mild malt aroma which have good aroma, just mild overall

M - The feel is what you would expect from a pils, light bodied with moderately full carbonation and slight bitterness with a light sweetness

T - The taste is good with a mild sweet pilsner malt flavor and slight herbal hop taste. There is a gentle mineral yeast taste in the flavor and bitterness is balanced with the malt for the most part - it has slight grassiness in the finish.

D - I find there is nothing about this pils that is offensive, but it doesn't exceed the middle of the pack for me. The flavor is good, but more than one may not be something I would be into. It is good, but there are plenty of others in PA I would go to before this.

Poured from 11.2oz bottle into 16oz Samuel Adams Perfect Pint glass.

Appearance: Clear golden color with a large white head that dissipates fairly slowly and leaves behind thick spots of lace.

Smell: Grainy, pilsner sweetness with slight grassy hops.

Taste: Begins with grainy and slightly buttery sweetness, finishing with more of the same buttery sweetness and slight grassy hops.

Mouthfeel: Light body with balanced carbonation and a clean, refreshing finish.

Drinkability: Surely an easy drinking beer, this isn't the most flavordul beer let alone the most flavorful of its style. Still, though, this one is worth a taste and would make for great sessioning. Also could make a great, fairly flavorful refresher as opposed to the usual BMC. This may be good at winning BMC converts, and, while not bad at all, probably won't completely satisfy most BAs. This is only slightly better than the average German pils.

a- bottle poured into a pils, nearly two fingers of bright white bubbly head, golden color, minimal carbonation.

s- slight skunk, bit of noble hopping, grass, lemon.

t- very light, light noble hops, light lemon, slight bitterness on the back end, not very carbonated once again.

m- light slightly creamy.

d- okay, in my notes i wrote 'this is a one and done beer' very accurate description that fits appropriately with many beers that i've uploaded reviews for tonight.

Mostly clear pale yellow hue with a super wuick off-white head. OK bubbling. The aroma is a stale old grass hop aroma with some almost tartly crisp un-toasted barley. The taste is super crisp but a little stale on both the hop and malt front. The finish is a little musty grass and bright pilner malt. This beer is not as drinkable most other German pilsners. crisp but stal from start to finish.

I came across this at my local spot and thought it would be the usual less expensive pilsner. I was pleasantly surprised. A lot fuller than one would expect, with a bolder taste, a little more bitter. Definitely not your usual pilsner. I went back and bought 2 more six packs. Enough said! Highly recommmended for Summer drinking...

Poured a medium straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured a doughy grain, musty hop and light sweetness.

The taste consisted of a relatively sweet malt and moderate noble hopbdpice. I wonder if this beer was brewed according to the Pirity Law, as I detect some adjunct sweetness.

The mouthfeel was round for the style.

Overall a decent pils.

Poured from a bottle into a pilsner glass.

A: Pours a clear dull golden colour with a half-finger of head and light carbonation.

S: Smells slightly skunky, grassy. Nice smell.

T: Very light. Herbal grassy notes buttressed by an unexpected fruitiness. Fairly watery.

M: Great! Very refreshing, crispness is moderated by lightness, resulting in a smooth, pleasant drink.

D: This beer is light enough to go down like a breeze and just tasty enough to have a few. Good drinkability.

This isn't a great pilsner, but it's a pretty solid one. I'd like to see more body, maybe more hops.

This is one of the many good German Pilseners. I bought this one when i was in Germany a few weeks ago. Poured in my Dutch beerglass there is a very nice white head. Almost no carbonation. The beer has a good appearance as to expect from a German beer. The smell is better than average and the tast is quit good, soft, smooth with some hints of citrus.

Very nice and enjoyable beer with a good mouthfeel and dito drinkablity.

This was new at my stop, very glad I gave it a go.

Pured a clear golden with a finger of bubbly head. Retention isn't great, lacing is minimal.

Smells of heady skunky hop, very spicy, clean water.

Taste is phenomenal. Thickly crisp hop starts the flavor and holds on, letting go at the end for a slightly sour-sweet finish.

Mouthfeel is fresh and crisp, light bodied, perfectly balanced.

This beer has amazing drinkability. I plan on getting plenty more when I go back and I'm sure it would pair well with plenty of dishes. Easy to finish off a whole bottle, even a 6 pack, without knowing it.
