A - Thick slightly off colour head, true to style (more of a coffee stout then the listed Am Strong Ale). Very dark, thin look for a stout.

S - Wonderful roasted smell with more than a hint of coffee and chocolate.

T - Good balance of roasted flavors to sweetness. Again hints of chocolate and coffee come thru well. Sliightly bitter aftertaste - and got a little soy sauce like after it warmed. Didn't have the boozy heat that this style sometimes gets (they refer to it as a seasonal ale on the menu)

M - Thicker than it looks, very true to coffee stout style. Would love to try this beer on a nitro tap...

D - Good. I enjoy coffee / oatmeal stouts this time of year (Dec) and would have this again for sure. Enjoyable.

A: Dark brown with dark red highlights and a small beige head.

S: Dark chocolate and toasted bread. I don't think there was maple added to this, but I'm smelling maple. Maybe it's brown sugar. Roasted malt blends with earthy, piney hop notes.

T: Toasted bread with notes of roasted grains. There's a little licorice and a whisper of coffee. Chocolate is evident and there's an upper low bitterness. I get maple on the late palate.

M: Upper medium to lower full body with upper moderate carbonation.

Overall: Somewhere between a Porter and Stout. Good stuff, recommended.

Had on tap at Callahan's.

Appearance is very dark brown. Decent head that dissipates quickly. Very little lacing.

Aroma is sweet. Smells a bit malty.

Tastes very sweet and lots of roasted maltyness like a stout. Slight taste of alcohol but not overpowering.

Mouthful is smooth, slightly creamy. Not a lot of carbonation.

Overall a very nice dark beer, very stout-like with a pleasing sweetness.

On tap at the brewpub

A - Poured a dark brown color with a tan head that leaves lacing behind

S - Is mostly of citrus and pine hops with mild malt

T - Follows the nose with citrus and pine hops upfront with a mild malt finish

M - This beer has a medium body with medium carbonation to it

O - The recipe must have changed since the review before mine as this was closer to an AM Dark Ale and no where close to a coffee stout however it was the best beer from them that I had and it is definitely worth getting if you stop by
