A cloudy amber color with an initial big head that dissipated and some lacing on the glass. I could smell some fruit- peach, banana, and the taste was of citrus, floral, and banana flavoring with some very good carbination. I do not drink many German beers, but this one was complex, malty, and fruity. I really enjoyed this.

Sampled on tap at Sleepy Dog; March 2011
Described as a Dunkel HefeWeizen by the taproom staff
The beer arrives with a brown, red-tinged body that has a touch of haze to it and is topped by a wispy, tan colored head. The nose has lots of bubblegum, some clove aromatics, and a touch of banana towards the finish. There is no real malt character noticeable in the aroma.

The flavor starts out with a clove note that seems to get washed out by the middle of my first sip. There is a huge banana note to the finish and a spicy, tongue numbing, turpene character is also in the finish. The body is fairly thin and it could certainly use some more body; the fizzy carbonation doesn’t seem to help the thinness of the body either. The malt doesn’t really play much of a role here, though there is perhaps a touch of toasted, caramel malt flavors here.

This not horrible by any means, but it needs lots more malt flavor to balance the aggressive banana and clove flavors that define this beer.

Sampled at the brewpub 3/4/2011.

Pours brown/copper, slightly hazy, low off white head, low retention and lacing.

Aroma is clove and banana mostly with some caramel and cherries in the background.

Flavor is lots of banana with some clove mixed in along with caramel covered cherries and stale bread. Sounds better than it is but it's not bad.

Light/medium body, drinkable. Probably the best of the 9 that I tried here.
