Review is from two note sessions, December 16, 2018 and March 12, 2019. 750 ml Cork and cage bottle for $12.75 CDN. Served just colder than cellar temperature into a tulip.

Appearance - Clear, dark ruby colored brew with a small half finger of light brown head. Modest staying power and a small soapy collar stays for the duration of the glass. Some visible carbonation.

Smell - Tart, oakey, vinous, cranberries and sour cherries. Complex and seamlessly integrated, it's hard to describe. Some old barn must and an earthy funkiness underlies the whole beer but in a very different way than say an Orval does. Hard to describe.

Taste - Really freaking delicious. Tart, woodsy, vinous and yet super fruity. One of the best by Rodenbach. A depth and fullness that translates into an almost creamy flavor shows here too. The highest of high quality. Booze is also super well hidden.

Mouthfeel - Light carbonation percolates and astringent just on the tip of the tongue. Medium bodied, yet the foeder aging gives a super creamy and decadent feel as well. Booze in invisible and this is impossibly easy to drink.

Overall - Absolutely marvellous, best beer of 2018 for me and in the top 5 of all time. Hard to compare vintages and other beers within Rodenbach's framework, but Grand Cru, Caractere Rouge as well as the 2013 Vintage are very close with this. Overall though, I might take this one over the rest.

Poured into a tulip. A hazy ruby brown with a one finger tan head that soon diminished to a ring. Smells of grape must. Very understated complexity. Light body and very smooth.

Very pleasant sour Belgian ale. Smooth. tart, but not overpowering. Notes of sour cherry, presence of oak. Smooth on the palate, well balanced. This is meant to be enjoyed slowly and savoured.

750 mL Bottle. ABV 7%.
Appearance: Veiled ruby colour, Half a finger of cream-coloured head, Settled into a thin collar, Slight carbonation, Slight lacing.
Aroma: Acetic acid, Vinous, Sour cherries/cranberries, Reminded me of an olive press at one point, Complex.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, Medium body, Slight carbonation, Dry finish.
Flavour: Very complex, Sour cherries, Fruity, Tremendous depth, Perfect integration.
Overall: Absolutely beautiful beer, Everything is blended so well together, Very easy to drink, Rodenbach never disappoints!
