Notes: "Rodenbach Vintage is a unique, unblended Flanders Red-Brown ale beer that is matured in oak casks for 2 years. Only the best casks are used, after which I subject the beer to a strict sampling selection. Rodenbach Vintage has a uniquely balanced acidic taste and a long, fresh and fruity aftertaste. Honoured with several gold awards." — Rudi Ghequire, Brewmaster.

Rodenbach 'Vintage 2018' @ 7.0% , served from a corked/caged 750 ml bottle
A-pour is amber from the bottle to a dirty amber in the glass with a small beige head leaving a dissipating lace ring along the chalice
S-smells like aged in an Oak Foeder
T-tart & refreshing , almost delicious
MF-ok carbonation , big medium body , filling beer , sip & enjoy
Ov-this beer has the wow factor , well made Belgian sour ale

750 ml cork and cage bottle. LCBO purchase for $13 CDN. Best before Summer 2025.

Appearance - Pours a traditional darkish red colored beer with brown hues. A small half finger of off white head is poured and fizzles out in under a minute.

Smell - Earthy, balsamic, vinous and plenty of wood. Sour cherries abound and cranberries too. Just a hint of sweetness that is a bit more apparent than some of the other vintages.

Taste - Assertively tart and sour, cherries, balsamic and wood coming together nicely. A little woodier than other vintages and possibly a touch less fruit forward. Deliciously sour as always.

Mouthfeel - Drier finish, expressive carbonation and plenty of bubbles to make the mouth tingle.

Overall - Spectacular and world class as always, I don't think in ranks quite with the 2016 (Barrel 201) and the 2013 in terms of greatness, but I've got another couple bottles so maybe a little more aging will improve this even more. Outstanding sour by one of the very best brewers of sour beer.
