This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a nice looking dark brown with red hues along the sides of the glass. There’s a light one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about thirty seconds leaving some messy lacing sliding into the beer. The smell starts off with some sweet cherries blending into some tart cherries creating a nice sour edge all around. Light sweet vinous qualities round out into a soft woodiness. The taste was moderately sweet with a sticky sourness in it and leading into the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light allowing the sourness to come across in a fairly sticky sort of way. Overall, I’d say that this was a really nice Flanders Red Ale that I would have again.

Found it difficult to locate this one here in Ireland, but glad I finally did.

Appearance is a hazy plum and fig, with a small creamy head. The head is gone in a matter of minutes which is a real shame and does knock it's score a tad.

Smell is great, a combination of light vinegar mixed with tonnes of plum and fig as per appearance.

The taste follows suit, and after the tiny initial hit of tartness, this gets better as you quaff, leaving a sweet aftertaste.

Not sure this will be everyone's cup of tea, as given the sweet notes, it really leans more toward a fruit beer than say a traditional dark Belgian ale.

It could do with a couple more %abv in my opinion, but nevertheless a very solid beer and worthy of it's high scores.

Brown/deep red, actually pretty clear when held up to the light. Tiny head, quickly disappears. No lacing at all.

Vinegar, bread. Honey. Pretty tart. A kind of woody/nutty smell as well. Plum.

Tastes of apples and grapes. Some biscuit, and alcohol in the aftertaste. Tartness is still there, but quickly dissipates and a winey sweetness takes its place. Something like cherries too.

Medium body and pretty lively carbonation.

The smell might be off-putting as tartness is very apparent at first, but everything blends together nicely and makes for a pleasant drink.

Pours an opaque, mahogany-plum color with a minuscule cap of khaki froth that's gone in short order. Aroma smells of palate-quivering tart cherries and french toast topped with boysenberry preserves and a drizzle of toffee--quite nice.

The taste features an engaging burst of apple cider vinegar up front, accompanied by black cherries, plums, and blackberries--a really fantastic blend of tartness and dark fruit. Warming reveals red wine and raisins in the finish. Perky carbonation dances on the tongue and yields a splendidly dry mouthfeel that keeps you coming back for more.

Overall, this is a great sour that offers just the right amount of pucker while incorporating a delightfully rich and fruity flavor profile. Not sure that I've had a better Flanders red.
