Nov. 2012: Shared 750 ml bottle, 2010 Vintage, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7%. Deep ruby colour, moderate cream-coloured head, Lovely sweet & sour aroma, vinous notes with oak galore, red wine vinegar, silage and farmhouse kitchen. Sweet and sour flavour too, oaky, vinous, well rounded and harmonious.

750 ml bottle into a stemmed tulip glass.
Burgundy wine look. Nice color, no cap or lacing . Deep ruby red with a fade at the bottom of the glass.
Cherries, raspberries, vinegar, oak, and a healthy dose of spices.
Soured cherry and raspberry. Some vinegar. The Belgian spice rack; cinnamon and sugar, clove, nutmeg. Apple.
Light and tart. Slight oak woody texture.
Ten years of age softened the vinegar. The fruits are highlighted. Barrel aging fared well here.

From the really old bottle, it pours a ruby mahogany color with a really small head, soon diminishing to small ring. No lacing. Tart in the nose and mouth. Definite sour cherry there. It ages well!

Description: Ruby, amber color that pours super smooth with just a quick flash of head. No lacing. Almost has the appearance of juice or some other non-carbonated beverage. The tartness comes through immediately on the nose with strong fruit (grape) hints and some other dark fruit notes. Oak and a kind of earthy undertone are also apparent. Taste follows the nose and the initial sip has an overwhelmingly tart punch although your taste buds kind of settle into it after that. It reminds a little of grape soda, or sweet tarts, but not in a nasty, cloying way. The body is light to medium with a refreshing feel.
Suggested food pairing: Bleu cheese

Overall: 4.25 (This beer is good and I would likely drink it again) I'd certainly put this beer in the "different" category but in a good way; it was a pleasant surprise/change of pace. I'm not terribly familiar with the style and it's not something I would drink every day but it makes for a good sipping beer.

Poured from 750 mL bottle into tulip. Bottom stamped with best by 22-08-15.
A: Pours a darker brownish red hue with 1 inch bubbly light tan head that quickly recedes.
S: Tart cherries and raspberries with a good amount of oaky wood. Hint of cinnamon and nutmeg. Aroma is still going strong.
T: Wow! This one has done well over time. Semisweet cherries (sour but with some sweetness too), fresh raspberries, oaky tannins, and more spice here than in aroma with cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. You can tell this one has settled/mellowed with age, but boy does it still have a lot left to offer.
M: Light-medium body. Sweet, tart, and with oak tannins. Moderately dry throughout. Refreshing and yet subdued.
D: Pulled this one out of the cellar on a whim and, man, am I glad I did. I was apprehensive, but this turned out stupendous. Not sure I would hold this one much longer (I agree with the best by date).
4/11/20:
My last bottle poured from 750 mL into cervoise. Actually this is still holding up very well! The spice notes are much reduced, but otherwise drinking almost the same as above. Nice spring surprise!
