Notes / Commercial Description:
What can we say about this one? A bit of luck meets years of homebrewing experience? When it came time to test out our brewing system for the first time, we needed something that we wouldn't feel too bad about dumping if we had equipment troubles. One of our brewers had enough malt in his homebrew stock, which unfortunately wasn't being used due to all his spare time being spent helping get Six Row started, for a batch.

However, it was a bit of a motley collection of ten (yes, ten!) malts, everything from wheat to pale to crystal to aromatic to our namesake. With a little supplemental malt from the local homebrew store, some Cascade and Goldings hops and a blend of US ale yeasts, the Whale (wheat/pale) ale was born. Pale copper in color, this is an interesting beer that has already been enjoyed by many. Let us know how you would describe it.

Pours out a slightly cloudy yellow amber color with just a tad of the white foam. No lacing here.
Smell is faint bread and just a touch of spice.
Taste is weak and watery but the flavor is there. Some lemon but mostly dry grain.
Mouthfeel is very clean and that is not a good thing. This is a wash-out more than a good mouthfull of beer.
Overall this isn't terrible but leaves a lot to the imagination.

I was served this American Pale Wheat Ale on tap in a pint glass. The ale poured a slightly hazy amber color and it produced a decent white head with good retention. The was an ample amount of lacing left behind. The aroma was full of malt and wheat and hops. The beer was medium in body, a strong malt base with some orange peel, and citrus like hop flavor. This ale starts off a little sweet but it finish's clean. Overall, pretty good beer- First ale from Six Row- I will be making a trip to the brewery in the near future.

Deep golden body and a thin white head that quickly fades away to a bare wisp; leaves some lacing on the glass. Rich grain and wheat aroma; toasted bread. Sour and bitter flavor up front; some cereal-like flavors floundering in the background. Medium body; smooth and glassy feel.

A ho-hum beer with a thin, watery feel with some lime/orange rind citrus flavors. It leave a somewhat harsh, metallic aftertaste with the hop bitterness. A rather forgettable beer experience.
