Our Double India Pale Ale is bigger in hop character and alcohol than our Extra Pale Ale. It is sure to please even the most discerning hop-head! Also known as Imperial IPA, this intensely hoppy, yet very drinkable beer lets the malty characteristics take a step back and allows the hops to really shine. Brewed with almost two (2) pounds of hops per barrel and left unfiltered, Six Row Double IPA showcases the citrusy and piney characteristics of the Columbus, Centennial, and Chinook hops.

Served on-tap in a tulip at the Global Brew Tap Room in Edwardsville, IL. Hazy yellow body with a slightly less than one-finger off-white head. The head dissipates fairly quickly and leaves good lacing along the glass.
The aroma presents a definite note of hops up front - pine notes with a bit of citrus following. A slight note of sweet malt in the background.
The flavor is also hop-forward with the pine and grapefruit citrus notes blending nicely. A little more sweet with the malt than I would have expected from the aroma, but it is fairly well balanced overall.
Medium mouthfeel that is very drinkable. A solid DIPA and glad to see another local brewery putting out some nice brews.

Gummy, Bitter, Fruity, Buttery
A beautiful looking beer, good clarity and great lacing is a start. The hop flavor is there with suggestions of grapefruit and mint, bit kiss of alcohol and ripe fruit in the middle. Toffee evens this brew out, yeast and cracker-like malt follows.

This was an odd one. I have never had a beer that was so fizzy and foamy, literally took me 3 pours to fill my glass, as it would just keep producing immense amounts of foam, no matter than smoothness of the pour. The flavor was decent, nothing exceptional. Mainly a hop forward offering with little malt backbone, not my favorite style for a DIPA, but decent none the less. But oh man, here comes back that foam/fizzy problem again. Heartburn set in pretty badly and I felt like my stomach was filling with foam. I started to get a nauseous feeling and so decided to throw the remainder away. I still give it an okay rating for the flavor alone. I would be willing to try again and see if this was just a bad batch, but am a bit nervous to do so.

A good DIPA, but average.
Nothing remarkable.
