I poured this one from a bomber:

Appearance: This is a densely, cloudy honey colored brew with a two finger impenetrable head that leaves a lot of fat lacing. (the lacing lasts forever and will require a steel wool brushing to remove)

Smell: Like pine cones and grapefruit.

Taste: I detect just a hint of pale malt then a blast of citrus and pine.

Mouthfeel: Smooth and well bodied. There is no hint at all that the abv is 6.7%.

Drinkability: This is my IPA of choice. I'd love to try this on tap.

Many thanks to DING for the chance to taste this- one of his fav local breweries. This is #BOTG 74.

Poured from bottle into DFH snifter. Pours a nice orange/amber color, really nice creamy white head, nice retention. After popping this, a pungent wave of dank hops hit my nose. Nice smelling IPA. After getting it into a glass, along with the grassy hops, I get some really nice malt sweetness behind it. A good smelling and looking IPA so far. Taste- Really nice caramel/tropical fruit sweetness, nice light carbonation, and appropriate bitterness on the end. This is super well balanced, and so drinkable. Love the mouthfeel on this one too- pretty light/medium bodied. This is a really solid IPA- so drinkable, nicely balanced, and really nice malt backbone and good hop character. This is way better than the reviews describe. Thanks again DING!

Notes based on new recipe....

Pour: hazed deep amber lacing well structured and persistent.

Nose: Hop presence lends to flowers, well balanced suggesting a blend of @ least three hops.

Mouth: not over aggressive, well rounded. Lightly soapy, fruity, spicy, it plays very, very well.

This is my favorite of the jailhouse brews, these guys know that great brewers aren't born, their crafted. This is also probably my favorite 'southern ipa' damn tasty an would be seen by the case in my home....

Nice reddish amber color and good hoppy flavor with a clean finish. Great with a cheddar cheese burger!

Poured from the tap into a 20 OZ mug at the Taco Mac in Atlanta. The appearance is a clear golden amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is sweet malt and light hops

Bottled 7-11-14, poured into IPA glass, reviewed live.

A - Pours honey gold with a rocky white head, good lacing.

S - Medium-High intensity hop aroma dominates, tropical fruit, citrus, and light touches of grass. Little malt/yeast aroma which is A-OK by me.

T - Again dominated by hops, medium intensity flavors of pine and citrus peel up front with a background of more on the earthy side of the hop flavor wheel. Moderate bitterness. Malt bill comes through a bit more in the flavor with light levels of sweet bread-ness.

M - Medium bodied, slightly sticky finish with some lasting bitter astringency.

O - A great local IPA, better than I remember and well worth re-visiting.

This IPA pours very well with great head retention.

There was a definite presence of hops in this beer.

I found it to be well balanced, not my favorite IPA but definitely drinkable.

After drinking, there was still a presence of floral hops lingering. Over all a year round drinkable beer for me.

A 22oz bottle picked up at Green's Buford Hwy Atlanta, GA

A - Nice golden color with lots of clarity. Nice 1 finger of head, and sticky lace on the glass. Pretty standard, but solid looking IPA

S - The hops jump out of the bottle upon opening. Nice! Nice mix of floral and bitterness

T - A very solid, well balanced IPA. Floral hops up front, and bitterness kicks in at the finish and aftertaste. Dry finish.

M - Smooth, dry.

O - Very high drinkability. I could be happy with a couple of growlers of this one on a Friday night. I have had this brew a while back, maybe a year ago, and this is better than I remember. I think they may have changed it since its original conception, but whatever, well done!

The beer pours a deep unfiltered burnt orange color into the glass at the brewery. The head was decent; one finger in height and the smell of the beer was deep and restrained earthy hops with a slight sweet edge. As this beer (as of now) is not dry hopped the aroma is lacking but the smell there is pleasing. Very balanced.

Glug glug glug

The taste is more promising than the smell. The hops and malt profile are very well balanced but the hop bill is more apparent upon tasting. (Duh) The hop flavor is herbal bitter at first but really opens up with sweet fruit flavor like orange and citrus, along with a slightly resinous flavor as well. The malt is robust but balanced and this beer leaves me thinking of DFH's 60 minutes with is taste and balanced, although the nose is still lacking. The mouth feel is what is should be, certainly not watery or overly heavy, well done for me. This brew at this stage is full of subtlety and balanced and taste great. After talking to Glenn at the brewery about the beer, his plans to eventually dry hop are exciting as the only thing this beer lacked to me was a strong nose and the hop kick upon impact. That said this is still very good.
