On tap at Pizza Port in Ocean Beach. Good thing there were two of us to share the stuff, for some reason they thought a pint of 10% beer was the correct serving suggestion. Not to complain, since it is hugely drinkable.

Really dark brown in the pint shaker with a thin mustache of foam. There's a nice spritziness on the tongue but it doesn't last so well. Big nose of cocoa. This tastes like chilled cocoa. And that would seem to cover all the bases but then there's the alcohol taste. FInally some hops provide a bitterish twang.

Overall this is a crazy malted milk sort of beer with a shot of vodka and a big Hershey bar taste. Rich and winey mouthfeel. Good flavors all around, it's just such a monster.

Enjoy by 7/16/14.

Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, and lactose aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa and earthy, almost cinnamon-like flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice lactose presence all around.

Collaboration beer between Eagle Rock and Alesmith. Pitch black, smooth pour nets a fine finger high head of mocha. Retention is pretty awful but it does leave a smattering of lace on the glass.

High impression of lactose, milk chocolate, brown sugar and toffee malt. Depth of the lactose is profound adding increased sweetness, alcohol and cream. Balancing hops are present providing an earthy tone to finish.

Follows the nose with rich dark chocolate and raw cocoa and the ever present lactose brings out substantial sweetness and a buttery/creamy touch. Alcohol blends in well. Straight forward and very decadent.

Lactose adds to the heft of this beer but the carbonation is smooth and creamy mirroring Alesmith's style. Alcohol is an after thought, malts are sticky as expected from such a sweet beer.

A good hearty milk stout and one to share. Obscene amounts of chocolate sweetness and lactose but there is very little complexity or depth. Alcohol is tempered down and carbonation is true to the Alesmith style, creamy/syrupy allowing the malt to be presented in its fullest.
